What is the Eligibility Criteria for someone who wants to become a Fashion Designer
The eligibility criteria to enter in the field of fashion is to pass 10+2 from any recognized board with minimum 55%, irrespective of the stream.
Students can seek admission by clearing entrance examinations such as NID, NIFT, CEED, AIEED, UCEED etc to enter in the top colleges / universities of fashion technology in India.
What does a Fashion Designer do
A Fashion designer makes sketches and drafts either on rough paper or on a computer through softwares such as Computer aided design (CAD) or computer aided design and drafting (CADD). They create designs for fashion apparels such as clothes, footwears, jewellery and handbags etc.
The major part of a fashion designer involves studying trends of the past and present and coming up with effective ideas to predict the future trends. There are majorly three skills involved before creating any fresh article, these are proper research, drawing what you imagined and a deep understanding of colours selection.
What are the Roles and Responsibilities of a Fashion Designer
- A Fashion Designer has to study and research current fashion trends and predict what the customers will like.
- They need to collaborate with different design teams to develop ideas that are new for products based on the research data.
- They initiate their work by drawing different sketches and illustrations to give a form to their imagination.
- They check and test various fabrics, textiles, colour, pattern and textures for every different idea.
- They have to look after the production, quality and quantity of their designs
- They also have to manage the marketing part.
