Fabric Manager oversees the entire lifecycle of fabric materials, from sourcing and development to quality control and inventory management, ensuring materials meet design, cost, and quality standards for production. They act as a crucial link between design teams, fabric mills, and garment manufacturers.
VelvetJobsVelvetJobs +2Core ResponsibilitiesSourcing and Procurement: Identifying, vetting, and managing fabric suppliers, negotiating pricing, and managing bulk purchasing to meet production deadlines.Fabric Development: Collaborating with design teams to select fabrics, developing new textiles, and managing R&D for fabric construction, content, and finishing.Quality Control (QC): Implementing inspection standards, approving laboratory dips and strike-offs, and conducting tests on incoming fabrics to ensure compliance.Inventory and Supply Chain Management: Maintaining optimal stock levels, supervising storage, and coordinating with suppliers for timely delivery.Trend Identification: Researching textile trends, attending industry tradeshows, and sourcing innovative materials.Cost Control: Monitoring budgets for raw materials, controlling costs, and managing the cost-performance ratio.
