About Company
An AI-powered equity research platform built for institutional buy-side professionals. The company serves analysts and portfolio managers at hedge funds, mutual funds, and investment banks.
It uses proprietary AI — including a custom-trained large language model — to automate insight extraction from financial documents. A 14-person seed-stage startup co-founded by experienced finance and AI leaders, backed by $2.5M in funding.
Engineering teams are based in Bengaluru and the US. The company is disrupting how equity research gets done — not the other way around.
Position Overview
As an Equity Research Analyst, you will work directly with top U.S. buy-side teams to understand how they generate alpha and translate those workflows into scalable AI-powered solutions. This is not a traditional analyst role — there are no long initiation reports or static Excel models. You will sit at the intersection of finance and AI, collaborating daily with portfolio managers at elite funds and engineers building next-generation research tools.
Role & Responsibilities
- Engage directly with buy-side client teams (PMs, senior analysts, CIOs) to understand their research workflows and alpha-generation strategies
- Analyze and solve specific buy-side use cases — earnings previews, thesis tracking, idea generation screens, readthroughs, quality of earnings, and 100+ others
- Produce sample outputs for companies on client watchlists and iterate based on PM feedback until the methodology is approved
- Translate approved research methodologies to the company's AI engineers for automation at scale across all U.S. companies
- Review AI-generated outputs, identify gaps, and iterate with engineers to ensure accuracy and analytical rigor
- Continuously onboard new buy-side workflows, moving from use case to use case as the client base grows
- Contribute to building the company's internal sector research team, with a path to Senior Analyst and Sector Head roles
Must Have Criteria
- 1–2 years of equity research experience at a sell-side or buy-side firm (bulge-bracket, mid-market, or Indian brokerage)
- Hands-on experience with U.S. equities — analyzing SEC filings, earnings transcripts, or financial statements of U.S.-listed companies
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering combined with Finance or Economics (dual background required)
- Graduation from a Tier 1 institution (IITs, IIMs, BITS Pilani, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated ability to independently build and communicate an investment thesis or research framework
- Familiarity with buy-side research workflows — thesis tracking, earnings analysis, idea generation, or similar use cases
Nice to Have
- Prior exposure to hedge fund workflows — L/S equity, event-driven, or quantitative strategies
- Experience working with or building financial data pipelines, screening tools, or research automation
- Understanding of AI/LLM capabilities and how they apply to financial document analysis
- Aspiration to relocate to New York within 2 years and work directly in the U.S. market
What We Offer
- Direct, daily collaboration with PMs and senior analysts at top-tier U.S. hedge funds and mutual funds
- Clear growth path: Senior Analyst within 1–2 years, Sector Head within 4–5 years
- Opportunity to transition to the New York office within 2 years, subject to visa eligibility
