Get to Know the Role
We are looking for a Deposition Equipment Engineer to drive equipment performance, reliability, and capability for thin-film deposition processes. You will work closely with Process Engineers, production teams, and global engineering teams to optimize tool uptime, stability, and manufacturing efficiency. This role is essential in supporting high-volume manufacturing through hands-on troubleshooting, data-driven analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
- Analyse equipment data (SPC / FDC, alarms, logs) to identify failure trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with Process Engineers to ensure strong equipment process integration and support yield improvements
- Develop, optimize, and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability
- Lead troubleshooting of equipment issues and implement effective corrective actions
- Monitor and manage performance of deposition equipment (PVD, CVD) to ensure high uptime, stability, and repeatability
- Support installation, qualification, and release of new equipment, including FAT and performance validation
- Work closely with vendors for technical support, upgrades, and spare parts optimization
Other Responsibilities
- Contribute to cost reduction initiatives through consumables optimization and maintenance efficiency improvements
- Maintain equipment documentation including PM procedures, troubleshooting guides, and maintenance records
- Participate in EHS programs, ensuring compliance with cleanroom and safety requirements
- Provide technical guidance to technicians during maintenance and recovery activities
- Support internal and external audits related to equipment systems
Skills and Competencies Profile
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field; fresh graduates may apply, OR
- 2 – 3 years of relevant working experience in the semiconductor industry, or prior experience in HDD, advanced manufacturing environments, or related roles, is preferred
Technical Skills:
- Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
- Strong knowledge of deposition equipment systems (PVD, CVD) and vacuum technology
- Strong understanding of reliability engineering, TPM, and preventive maintenance practices
- Experienced in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, RF, and gas delivery systems
- Familiar with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, JMP, Minitab) and SPC / FDC systems
- Familiar with quality systems and methodologies (e.g., ISO, 8D, FMEA, Lean Six Sigma)
Soft Skills:
- Strong team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Good attention to detail
- Continuous improvement mindset with strong ownership and accountability
Travel Requirement
- Minimal local travel (<10%) for occasional vendor meetings or local audits
- Occasional regional travel (1 – 2 times per quarter) for training or cross-site collaborations
