Environment, Health and Safety Manager

Role :

We are looking for an experienced EHS Manager / Safety / HSE Officer with strong knowledge of hospital construction projects. The candidate will be responsible for implementing safety procedures, monitoring compliance, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring a safe working environment during hospital construction activities such as OT blocks, ICU, MGPS rooms, HVAC installations, and electrical works. He will be the liasioning officer for all the statutory compliance and obtaining of the NOC and approvals. Experience in infection-control safety during hospital construction is preferred.

Required Skill Set:

Strong knowledge of construction safety practices.

Experience in hospital renovation safety preferred.

Knowledge of fire safety systems & emergency planning.

Familiarity with electrical & MGPS safety.

Strong communication & leadership skills.

Ability to enforce safety discipline at site.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Site Safety Management:

Implement project safety plan and HSE policies.

Conduct daily site safety inspections.

Ensure proper use of PPE by all workers.

Monitor high-risk activities like:

o Working at height o Hot works o Electrical works

o Confined space entry

o Lifting operations

Maintain safety signage and barricading.

2. Healthcare-Specific Safety:

Ensure infection-control safety in hospital construction areas.

Monitor dust control in ICU/OT renovation zones.

Ensure proper sealing of work zones in operational hospitals.

Coordinate shutdown safety for electrical panels & MGPS works.

Ensure safety around oxygen pipeline & gas storage areas.

3. Compliance & Standards:

Ensure compliance with:

o National Building Code of India (NBC-2016 Fire & Life Safety)

o Occupational Safety and Health Administration safety practices (reference guidelines)

o National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers infection-control requirements.

Maintain statutory safety records and registers.

Coordinate safety audits and inspections

4. Training & Awareness:

Conduct safety toolbox talks and induction training.

Train workers on PPE usage and safe work methods.

Educate staff on emergency evacuation procedures.

Conduct mock drills (fire & emergency response).

5. Incident Management:

Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents.

Prepare incident reports and corrective action plans.

Maintain accident register.

Implement preventive measures.

6. Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain HSE checklists, permits & audit records.

Prepare daily/weekly safety reports.

Track safety KPIs.

Ensure work permits system (Hot Work, Height Work, Electrical).

7. Coordination:

Coordinate with Project Manager, PMC, Contractors & Engineers.

Ensure safety clearance before major activities.

Monitor subcontractor safety compliance.

Qualification :

Diploma / B.E in Engineering with Safety Certification.

Additional safety certifications preferred (NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA).

Minimum 5 years of experience in construction safety.

Hospital project experience preferred.
