Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Salesforce CPQ Technical Architect to join our presales team. You will be responsible for designing compelling CPQ solutions, leading discovery workshops, building proofs of concept (POCs), and articulating technical and business value to prospects. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience in Salesforce CPQ implementations, strong solutioning skills, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable, high-impact architectures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Solution Design & Architecture
- Lead discovery sessions with prospects to understand CPQ requirements (quoting, pricing, product rules, approvals, contract management).
- Design end-to-end Salesforce CPQ solutions aligned with client's sales processes and business objectives.
- Create technical architecture diagrams, solution design documents, and proposal artifacts.
- Provide guidance on CPQ best practices, integration patterns, and data migration strategies.
2. Presales Engagement
- Develop and deliver compelling demonstrations and POCs tailored to prospect needs.
- Collaborate with sales teams to respond to RFPs, RFIs, and technical questionnaires.
- Present solutions to technical and executive audiences, addressing both functional and technical concerns.
- Estimate effort, scope, and resources required for proposed CPQ implementations.
3. CPQ Expertise
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of Salesforce CPQ modules:
- Product Rules, Price Rules, and Discount Schedules
- Quote Templates, Document Generation
- Approval Processes, Contract Management
- Advanced Approvals, Salesforce Billing (nice-to-have)
- Experience with CPQ integrations (ERP, CRM, billing systems, tax engines).
4. Collaboration & Enablement
- Work closely with delivery teams to ensure smooth handoff from presales to implementation.
- Mentor junior presales consultants and solution engineers.
- Stay updated with Salesforce CPQ releases and emerging trends in quoting and pricing.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Salesforce CPQ: Minimum 4+ years of hands-on configuration and implementation experience.
- Salesforce Platform: Strong knowledge of Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Lightning Platform.
- Integration Experience: REST/SOAP APIs, middleware (MuleSoft, Dell Boomi), ERP integrations (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Certifications: Salesforce Certified CPQ Specialist (mandatory). Additional certs like Application Architect, System Architect, or Sales/Service Cloud Consultant are a plus.
- Technical Tools: Proficiency with VS Code, Git, Salesforce CLI, and debugging tools.
Presales & Soft Skills
- Excellent presentation, storytelling, and whiteboarding skills.
- Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen with understanding of quote-to-cash processes.
- Experience in creating proposals, SOWs, and effort estimations.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with Salesforce Billing, Revenue Cloud, or Subscription Management.
- Knowledge of Apex, LWC, or Visualforce for custom CPQ extensions.
- Background in industries like Manufacturing, High-Tech, Media, or Telecom.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Required: Salesforce CPQ Specialist Certification.
- Preferred: Salesforce Architect certifications (Application/System Architect).
