We are seeking an Engineering Manager with 12+ years of experience to lead multidisciplinary engineering activities across Piping, Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, and Instrumentation. The role is responsible for overseeing engineering planning, execution, and quality while ensuring effective interdisciplinary coordination, timely project delivery, budget control, and compliance with international standards and client specifications. The Engineering Manager will serve as the technical authority on projects and play a key role in strengthening Sayantrik's position as a trusted engineering partner in the Energy, Power, and Chemicals sectors.

Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

Engineering Leadership & Technical Authority

  • Act as the overall technical head for all active and upcoming projects across Energy, Power, and Chemical sectors.
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, design philosophies, and best practices across all disciplines.
  • Review and approve critical engineering deliverables including design basis, equipment datasheets, P&IDs, layout drawings, and specifications.
  • Provide technical direction during FEED, detailed engineering, and PMC phases of projects.
  • Drive innovation in engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency and quality.

Multidisciplinary Coordination & Integration

  • Oversee inter-discipline checks (IDC) and ensure all interfaces are resolved before drawing issue.
  • Chair engineering coordination meetings and ensure timely resolution of cross-discipline technical queries.
  • Manage 3D model reviews and ensure clash-free, constructable designs are delivered to clients.
  • Ensure design integration between process, engineering, and vendor packages.

Project Execution & Delivery Management

  • Own the Master Deliverable Register (MDR) and ensure all engineering milestones are met per project schedule.
  • Manage engineering manhour budgets, resource allocation, and utilization across all disciplines.
  • Monitor project progress through weekly engineering status reports and flag risks to management proactively.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and PMC teams to align engineering deliverables with procurement and construction schedules.
  • Lead value engineering exercises to optimize design without compromising safety or quality.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for key clients during project execution.
  • Lead and attend client technical review meetings, HAZOP sessions, and design review workshops.
  • Manage client technical queries (TQs), site query responses (SQRs), and variation orders (VOs) effectively.
  • Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with clients, contractors, and technology licensors.
  • Support business development by contributing to technical proposals, capability presentations, and bid reviews.

Quality, HSE & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure all engineering outputs comply with applicable international codes (ASME, API, IEC, IS, EN) and client standards.
  • Implement and maintain the company's Quality Management System (QMS) across engineering functions.
  • Conduct internal technical audits and lead corrective action reviews for engineering non-conformances.
  • Champion HAZOP, SIL, and risk review participation for all safety-critical projects.
  • Ensure HSE considerations are embedded into all design activities from concept to handover.

People Management & Capability Building

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers across all disciplines.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide structured feedback aligned to the company KPI framework.
  • Identify skill gaps and develop targeted training plans — technical, software, and behavioral.
  • Build a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Support recruitment of senior engineers and discipline leads in coordination with HR.

Qualification & Experience

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
  • 12 + years of progressive engineering experience
  • Minimum 5 years in a lead or management role overseeing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Significant exposure to at least two of the three sectors: Energy, Power, or Chemicals.
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong working knowledge of FEED and detailed engineering workflows in an EPC / consultancy environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on schedule and within budget.

Preferred / Advantageous

  • M.Tech / M.E. in Process / Mechanical / Chemical Engineering, or MBA in Project Management.
  • Chartered Engineer (CE) status or equivalent professional certification (IE, ASME, IChemE).
  • Experience working with international clients or on overseas project assignments.
  • Familiarity with HAZOP facilitation, SIL assessment, and safety case preparation.
  • Prior experience in pre-bid engineering, proposal preparation, and techno-commercial discussions.

  • Thermal power plants, combined cycle (CCGT), renewable energy (solar / wind BOP), substations.
  • Chemicals:
  • Petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, fertilizers, polymer plants, solvent recovery.

Engineering Disciplines

  • Piping:
  • Piping system design, stress analysis, ASME B31.3 / B31.1 / B31.8, pipe support engineering.
  • Mechanical:
  • Static and rotating equipment — pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, ASME Sec VIII.
  • Civil / Structural:
  • RCC/steel structures, equipment foundations, pipe racks, seismic design per IS/AISC.
  • Electrical:
  • HV/LV systems, load flow, cable sizing, hazardous area classification (IEC 60079).
  • Instrumentation & Control:
  • Control philosophy, instrument datasheets, SCADA/DCS integration, SIL/SIS systems.
