About the Role:

As an Engineering Manager Backend, you will be responsible for building and leading high-performing backend engineering teams while driving the design, architecture, and delivery of highly scalable systems. You will balance people leadership, technical excellence, and execution, ensuring timely delivery of reliable and high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of backend engineers to deliver complex projects successfully
• Own end-to-end delivery including planning, execution, and release management
• Drive system design and architecture for scalable and resilient backend platforms
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality benchmarks
• Partner with Product and Program teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Build, motivate, and retain high-performing engineering teams
• Ensure performance, reliability, security, and scalability of backend systems
• Act as a hands-on technical leader when required

Requirements:

• 9+ years of server-side application development experience with Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and AWS
• 2+ years of experience in leading or managing engineering teams
• Demonstrated experience delivering highly scalable, distributed systems
• Deep technical expertise with a proven track record of successful delivery
• Strong program and product management mindset
• Proven success in building, motivating, and retaining teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex designs and technical plans
• Excellent judgment, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong design and architecture knowledge

Preferred Qualification:

• Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Strong experience in scaling, performance tuning, and optimization at both API and storage layers
