Job Summary:
Chargebee is looking for an inspirational Engineering Manager for driving the next generation of its Usage Based Billing team focused on monetization for the new age AI businesses. This team works with ingesting hundreds of thousands of requests per second, handling huge volumes of data, storage and does aggregations near real time to handle critical billing operations.
This role requires a blend of strong technical expertise, exceptional system design skills, and a passion for leading and mentoring engineering teams. As an Engineering Manager, you will oversee the development and delivery of key product features, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of innovative, customer-focused solutions. Your role will involve both strategic leadership and hands-on technical contributions to ensure the team delivers scalable, high-quality products that meet business objectives
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the key responsibilities include:
As an Owner of the portfolio, you will build, inspire, and grow talented engineering teams that are responsible for designing and building end-to-end product capabilities for Chargebee's Subscription centric Platform.
You will work with product management and engineering teams to influence key decisions on architecture and implementation of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
You will be expected to bring thought leadership to advance the overall state of technology and customer focus for the entire engineering organization.
Lead by example through hands-on coding when necessary, and inspire your team with your technical expertise.
Directly responsible for the career advancement of the engineers at various stages of their career growth.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Solid experience in managing B2C and B2B enterprise grade distributed backend systems.
Strong knowledge of Java, Distributed Systems that operate at high scale, Queuing systems like Kafka, OLTP and OLAP databases and javascript frameworks like React, Vue etc..
Monitoring at enterprise scale level using latest tools
Experience with building global scale cloud-native systems and modern tech stack: AWS, RESTful API, Kafka and container-based applications.
Deep understanding of distributed systems architecture and industry best practices
Experience creating/supporting production software/systems and a proven track record of identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks for production systems.
Ability to identify problems with requirements, identify alternatives, and help your team navigate through these issues.
Must haves:
12+ years of proven experience in designing enterprise scale SaaS platforms
Track record of building / scaling and managing high performing teams for at least 2 years.
Added points if you have been a founder / CTO / founding engineer etc. of a startup and has hustled / seen scale within the company.
Hands-on engineer who can lead with example.
Demonstrated success building culture of innovation, ownership, accountability, and customer focus
Good communication and presentation skills with ability to interact with different cross-functional teams of varying levels.
Experience in building and scaling microservices
Expected to be a role model for young engineers, have a strong sense of code quality and enforce code quality within the team.
