Key Responsibilities:
Control & Protection Design:
- Review client requirements and technical specifications for HV/EHV substation projects.
- Prepare control and protection philosophy documentation.
- Develop metering and protection single line diagrams (SLDs) including relays, meters, and functional design descriptions.
- Perform CT/VT sizing, relay selection, and prepare relay ordering codes for procurement.
- Prepare schematic diagrams for interface equipment in relay panels.
- Develop logic and interlocking documents including signal lists, trip matrices, and interlock logic diagrams.
Electrical Engineering & Panel Design:
- Prepare circuit diagrams for new and existing setups (including retrofit projects).
- Create cable block diagrams, electrical control cable schedules, interconnection charts, wiring, and termination diagrams.
- Prepare core sheets and SCADA I/O schedules.
- Panel engineering including layouts, general arrangements, wiring tables, and terminal tables.
- Identify and modify existing drawings with red/green markups per standards.
Coordination & Technical Leadership:
- Interface with primary equipment, BCU, SCADA/RTU, and teleprotection systems.
- Design auxiliary power systems including LV AC/DC panels, auxiliary transformers, batteries, charger sizing, and CB selectivity studies.
- Review vendor drawings and offers, perform technical vetting of control and relay panels and auxiliary systems.
- Coordinate with other departments such as primary design and lead engineers.
Testing & Documentation:
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for primary and secondary systems.
- Prepare as-built documentation and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Ensure timely delivery of design deliverables and maintain awareness of project schedules.
Project Management & Analysis:
- Use project management tools to manage costs, schedules, and track design project progress.
- Perform technical, economic, and environmental studies.
- Follow up on quality assurance documentation and participate in site inspections and testing.
