Position Summary

The Drafter will be responsible for the drafting, layout, production, communication, and overall presentation for all drawing deliverables for the engineering efforts.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ability to draft legible drawings that adhere to client, industry, and company standards.
  • Ability to utilize AutoDesk software.
  • Ability to create both 2D and 3D designs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and clients to streamline workflow and improve project delivery.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure alignment of technical specifications while delivering high-quality engineering outputs.
  • Be actively involved in the preparation of proposals and business development activities.
  • Be proactive in supporting construction operations with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to improve power system studies.

Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Associate's/technical degree in an accredited drafting program, or sufficient industry experience
  • 1+ year drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, preferably in an engineering work environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in power system analysis and studies.
  • Previous experience working in the US market.
  • Ability to travel to the Overland Park office for training, development, team building, and client engagement activities.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with a commitment to meeting deadlines.

Education And Experience

  • 3+ years drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, preferably in an engineering work environment
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Raster Design and/or Bentley Descartes
  • Experience interpreting substation electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, and/or substation physical/civil drawings
  • Experience working with scaled drawings
  • Working knowledge of survey coordinate systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with ProjectWise File Management System
  • Experience with the InEight Document software
  • Reliable, detail-oriented self-starter who takes ownership of assigned tasks
