Role Overview
The Director - Government Relations & Public Policy (State engagements) will lead and manage relationships across multiple state governments and regulatory ecosystems. The role will focus on enabling business expansion, shaping favourable state-level policy frameworks, and managing stakeholders.
This position requires deep on-ground engagement capabilities, strong understanding of state administrative structures, and experience navigating labour and regulatory challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Mapping & Relationship Management
- Map and manage key stakeholders
- Facilitate and lead positive, timely dialogue
Policy Monitoring & Advocacy
- Monitor developments and study state policy frameworks
- Prepare representations and advocacy literature around the relevant developments
- Represent the organisation at state consultations and policy forums.
Business Expansion & Strategic Partnerships
- Identify opportunities for business expansion and high-impact collaborations with state governments.
- Support new market entry, regulatory approvals, and state-level partnerships.
Regulatory Liaisoning & Government Approvals
- Liaise with state and central regulatory authorities to secure mandatory approvals, registrations, and licenses across regions.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with:
- Drug Control Departments
- FSSAI Authorities
- Pollution Control Boards
- Legal Metrology Departments
- City Corporations
- Clinical Establishment Authorities
- Other applicable regulatory bodies
- Manage regulatory notices, inspections, and queries with timely and effective resolution.
- Conduct feasibility evaluations for new locations or projects from a regulatory and licensing standpoint.
- Advise and support the business on strikes, protests, and labour-related legal matters.
- Provide on-ground issue management and risk mitigation support.
Preferred Experience
- 10-15 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs, Government Relations roles.
- Prior experience handling multi-state regulatory frameworks is highly preferred.
