Design Engineer II, where your expertise in fundamental engineering principles and critical thinking will directly influence the development of sensor products. In this role, you will leverage design tools such as CAD, tolerance analysis, FEA, FMEA, and DVP&R to create innovative solutions and overcome technical challenges. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, take ownership of product designs, and contribute to delivering outstanding results within schedule, under the mentorship of experienced engineering leaders.

We are VSS (Vehicle Sensor Systems), a contributionmotivated team building advanced vehicle sensor systems that enhance passenger safety and comfort.
What You Will Do
- Own the mechanical design of products from concept through production launch
- Conceptualize products that are manufacturable, cost-effective, and satisfy customer requirements
- Develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings with appropriate GD&T, engineering specifications, and technical documentation with mentorship from experienced engineers
- Drive design trade-off studies and participate in architecture decisions
- Work closely with supplier partners to optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM) and to resolve design and process issues
- Perform tolerance analysis, structural/thermal assessments, and material selection
- Possess experience with manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, stamping, CNC machining, plastic welding
- Communicate design intent, risks, and mitigations to cross-functional teams
- Assist in documenting project scope, technical requirements, feasibility, and engineering work plans
- Build and test prototypes, execute test plans (DVP&R) and analyze test data using statistical methods, develop and conduct factorial DOEs, carry out Hypothesis Testing and Capability Studies
- Support engineering builds (EV, DV, PV) and production ramp-up
- Lead root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methods like 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone diagrams with guidance from experienced engineers
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering
- 3+ years of engineering experience in product design
- Experience using analytical tools (FEA, tolerance stacks, DFMEA, etc.) as part of a product development process
- Experience developing validation plans and analyzing test results to ensure a product meets performance requirements
- Demonstrated ability to use structured problem-solving methods to systematically determine root causes for complex technical issues
What Will Put You Ahead
- Product design experience in the automotive industry, preferably in automotive sensors
- Automotive ECUs and sensors packaging development knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of resins, metals, engineering tools and processes, and manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, plating, assembly)
