Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a Deepwater Subsurface Manager to lead planning and execution of a multi-well exploration/appraisal drilling campaign in 2026, followed by immediate development. This role demands strong leadership to manage multidisciplinary teams, ensure efficient collaboration, and deliver technically robust and cost-effective development plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Subsurface Leadership:
  • Full accountability for all subsurface aspects of deepwater exploration, appraisal, and development.
  • Lead all subsurface elements of the 2026 exploration campaign to ensure success and accurate resource characterization.
  • Develop pre-planned alternative scenarios enabling fast-tracked FID post-drilling.
  • Reservoir Characterization:
  • Oversee reservoir modeling and simulation by integrating geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data to support development decisions.
  • Development Planning:
  • Direct the creation of development plans, including well placement, drilling schedules, production forecasts, and resource allocation.
  • Team Management:
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of national and expatriate geoscientists and engineers across locations.
  • Engage third-party consultants to support project execution.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
  • Provide clear and regular updates to senior management, stakeholders, and regulators regarding project progress, risks, and outcomes.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of oil & gas experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in subsurface deepwater field appraisal and development.
  • Background in Reservoir Engineering or Geoscience.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or professional certifications are a plus.
  • Proven success in leading subsurface teams and collaborating across functions (e.g., drilling, exploration, subsea facilities).
  • Demonstrated experience in:
  • Exploration and development of deepwater gas fields.
  • Working across various deepwater depositional environments.
  • Gas and liquid-rich gas plays.
  • Multi-country project experience.
  • Acting as interface between client and third-party contractors (preferred).
  • Strong project management skills, with ability to deliver within scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Ability to work independently and drive outcomes with limited oversight.
