Role Overview
BML Munjal University invites applications for the position of Dean – Student Welfare, a senior leadership role responsible for nurturing a supportive, inclusive, and engaging student environment.
The Dean will work closely with students, faculty, and university leadership to enhance the overall student experience, promote well-being, and foster a culture of participation, belonging, and growth across the campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead initiatives that enhance student engagement, participation, and campus life
- Build and strengthen systems for student well-being, including mentoring, counselling, and peer support
- Act as a key bridge between students and institutional leadership, ensuring student voices are heard and responded to
- Foster an inclusive campus culture that supports diversity, equity, and accessibility
- Oversee residential life and promote community-building within campus living spaces
- Enable student leadership, innovation, and ownership of initiatives
- Collaborate with academic and administrative teams to create a cohesive student experience
Qualifications
- Ph.D. (preferred) or equivalent academic and leadership experience
- Demonstrated commitment to student advocacy and engagement
- Exposure to student support systems, campus life, or student development frameworks
Additional qualifications that would strengthen the application (not mandatory):
- Formal training or certifications in student affairs, mental health first aid, or conflict transformation
- Exposure to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices and/or restorative approaches to student engagement
Experience
- 8–10 years of experience in higher education or related environments, with a strong track record of advocating for student needs and engaging with student communities
- Experience in designing or supporting student well-being initiatives that address mental, emotional, and physical health
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations, including international students, first-generation learners, and varied learning needs
- Experience in enabling student-led initiatives, leadership development, and innovation
- Exposure to residential campus environments and community-building within student housing ecosystems
- Familiarity with using digital tools or data-informed approaches to enhance student engagement and identify support needs
