Data Analyst (DA)

About the Role:

As a Data Analyst at NxtWave, you will play a central role in transforming complex datasets into actionable insights, enabling business teams to make data-driven decisions. You'll own end-to-end analytics processes—from data extraction and modeling to visualization—while aligning closely with EdTech metrics and user behavior.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Translate business problems into structured data analysis tasks and deliver actionable recommendations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Marketing, Engagement, and Ops) to understand needs and deliver insights.

Design, build, and maintain dashboards for tracking critical KPIs.

Extract, transform, and validate data from multiple sources using SQL (BigQuery).

Apply Python for automation, exploratory data analysis (EDA), and data transformation. Conduct statistical and trend analyses to identify opportunities and patterns.

Implement modular data models and maintain version control using DBT.

Document analytics best practices, maintain data dictionaries, and ensure standardization. Support forecasting models or ML-based prioritization efforts where relevant.

Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality data deliveries.

Skills Required:

Must-Have Skills (Core, Non-Negotiable)

Advanced expertise in SQL (BigQuery) and analytical querying.

Hands-on experience with Looker Studio or equivalent BI tools.

Strong Google Sheets skills for quick, ad-hoc analyses.

Good understanding of statistics and ability to interpret data distributions.

Strong communication skills and proven ability to work with stakeholders.

Preferred Skills (Highly Useful, Trainable On-the-Job)

Foundation in Python, Pandas, and EDA workflows.

Understanding of EdTech KPIs like retention, engagement, and churn.

Optional/Good-to-Have (Growth Path Skills)

Familiarity with DBT for scalable data modeling.

Exposure to basic ML concepts (classical ML, feature engineering, evaluation, etc.).

Awareness of Gen AI tools for automation and productivity.
