Pipeline Technical Lead
Job Overview
- We are looking for a proactive and problem-solving Pipeline Technical lead to join our Visual Effects team.
- In this role, you will be the bridge between our artists and the technology they use. Your primary focus will be writing and maintaining small, highly effective tools and scripts to streamline our daily processes and eliminate workflow bottlenecks.
- Additionally, you will play a key role in partnering with our engineering teams on cloud-based workflows, managing color pipelines, and ensuring the smooth ingestion and delivery of production data.
Key Responsibilities
- Tool Development: Tool Development: Build Python tools and DCC integration scripts to automate workflows and support VFX workflow.
- Pipeline Support: Act as the first line of technical support for artists, troubleshooting scene files, render errors, and data flow issues between departments.
- Cloud Workflows: Collaborate with our infrastructure and platform teams to integrate cloud storage, remote workstations, and cloud rendering solutions into the VFX pipeline.
- Workflow Optimization: Identify repetitive tasks within the VFX pipeline and develop streamlined solutions to improve overall team efficiency.
- Color & Camera Management: Oversee color management workflows and ensure accurate ingestion, processing, and metadata extraction for various high-end camera file formats.
- Required Qualifications & Skills
- VFX Pipeline Knowledge: Solid understanding of the end-to-end VFX pipeline (from ingestion to compositing/delivery).
- Programming: Strong proficiency in Python and experience working in Linux-based production environments.Familiarity with UI development (PyQt/PySide) for building artist-friendly tools.Exposure to production technologies such as rez, GraphQL, and frontend web development (e.g. React).
- DCC Experience: Experience writing scripts for standard industry software such as Nuke, Maya and FlowPT.
- Color & Image Processing: Strong understanding of VFX color pipelines and image processing, including modern color management systems such as ACES and OCIO, and common VFX image formats (e.g. OpenEXR).
- Render Farm: Experience working with virtualized render farms, particularly using Deadline to manage and monitor renders.

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical artists.
