The Honest Version of This Role

You've been doing good design for a few years. You know the tools. You're fast enough. And lately you're wondering if you're being challenged, or if you're just executing the same brief in a different colour palette. This role is for you if the answer is the second one. At Pangolin, Creative Leads set the visual standard for our clients. You'll shape how B2B tech brands, some of them genuinely boring products, look and feel in the world. You'll push back on briefs that have the wrong premise. You'll mentor junior designers. And you'll have opinions about why that font choice is wrong for that audience, and you'll be right.

About Pangolin Marketing

We're a B2B marketing agency for tech companies that refuse to be boring. We work in SaaS, climate tech, analytics, and enterprise software. We do brand strategy, campaigns, content, and design for clients who want to own their category, not blend into it. Our design team works across sales decks, event kits, digital campaigns, eBooks, landing pages, and brand identity. No two weeks look the same.

You'll Fail Here If:

● You think Lead means others bring you briefs and you execute them

● You've never shaped a visual identity from concept to client delivery

● Your craft is strong but you can't articulate why your design decisions work

● You're still learning to use AI tools (this role requires you to use them and help others use them well)

● You protect your design process from feedback

● You're looking for a quiet, predictable execution role

What You'll Do:

● Lead visual direction on flagship client projects: brand refreshes, campaign identities, event systems, product launch kits

● Own quality across the design team's output, you spot what's off before it goes to the client

● Mentor the junior Visual Storyteller: give structured feedback, run design reviews, build their judgment not just their skills

● Work directly with Pangolin's strategy and content teams to ensure design and narrative are integrated, not parallel tracks

● Integrate AI tools (Midjourney, Firefly, RunwayML, and what comes next) into team workflows, not solo workflows

● Present and defend creative decisions to clients: calmly, specifically, with evidence

● Maintain design system integrity across client accounts (brand guides aren't suggestions)

What We're Looking For:

● 5–8 years of design experience, with at least 3 years in an agency or studio environment

● A portfolio demonstrating visual identity work, multi-format campaign systems, and high-complexity collateral (not just polished individual assets)

● Expert in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma

● Proficient in AI design tools and able to teach others to use them with judgment (beyond just ChatGPT and Gemini)

● Experience presenting to clients, comfortable defending decisions, not just describing deliverables

● Motion graphics / video design proficiency is a strong advantage

● Experience mentoring or directing junior designers
