Job Description

As a Cost Planner specializing in Industrial Building Construction, your primary responsibility will be to manage all aspects of cost estimation, budgeting, and financial control for construction projects within the industrial sector. Working in collaboration with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders, you will ensure that projects are delivered within budget while maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation and Budgeting:

  • Conduct thorough cost estimations for industrial building construction projects.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project goals.
  • Provide support in the preparation of tender documents and bid evaluation processes.
  • Managing costing and estimates from external sub consultants – (Electrical + HVAC + Mechanical + Fire Fighting + Plumbing + PEB Steel Construction + Structural RCC works)

Contract Management:

  • Assist in the negotiation and administration of contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and other relevant parties.
  • Monitor contract performance, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
  • Identify and manage variations to contracts, assessing their impact on project costs.

Quantity Take-off and Measurement:

  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs for construction materials and labour.
  • Verifying the quantity for Interior Fit-outs and all civil works and preparing BoQ.
  • Regularly update and monitor project quantities, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to validate and refine project quantities.

Cost Control and Analysis:

  • Implement robust cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Analyse cost reports, identifying areas of concern and recommending corrective actions.
  • Provide financial forecasts and reports to project management.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks related to cost overruns and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with project teams to assess the financial impact of potential risks and develop contingency plans.

Value Engineering:

  • Explore opportunities for value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
  • Provide recommendations for alternative materials, construction methods, or processes that offer cost savings.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to quantity surveying activities.
  • Understanding Design Standards and specifications of MPS.
  • Generate regular reports on project cost performance, highlighting key metrics and variances.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Post Graduation from NICMAR or Similar University shall be preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Cost Planner in industrial building construction projects.
  • Proficient in quantity take-off software and cost estimation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellency in CAD, Excel and PPT. Familiarity with Microsoft Project will be added advantage.
