Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Cost Engineer - Automobile, located in Chennai.
Qualifications
Work Experience: 4 + years
Work Location: Chennai
Preferred immediate to 30 days
- Cost Estimation & Analysis- Perform zero-based costing for automotive components such as: Engine parts (5C parts, turbocharger, oil pump, compressor), Axle, suspension, and other vehicle casting components, Develop accurate cost models considering raw materials, processes, tooling, and cycle times, Track and update market trends for raw material (RM) rates, grades, and suppliers
- Casting & Manufacturing Process Expertise - Define process flow and tooling requirements for: Ferrous and non-ferrous components, Casting types: Iron Casting Sand, Investment, Shell Molding, Chill Casting, Prepare charge mix design based on material requirements.
- Production & Layout Planning Analyze: Process layout feasibility based on volume and cost impact, Evaluate manufacturing readiness (MHR) and testing requirements
- Strong experience in costing of automotive components
- Expertise in at least one domain: Casting / Forging / Machining
- Benchmarking engineer: Experience in vehicle teardown and benchmarking, Ability to generate insightful benchmarking reports, Strong analytical and presentation skills
- Expertise in tooling design for casting/forging/machining
- Experience in fixture design and development
- Strong understanding of CNC, VMC, HMC, CTL machining processes
- Familiarity with automotive manufacturing standards and testing
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience in Iron Casting Foundry (2–3 years preferred)
