Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Part-Time HR Manager to oversee and manage human resources operations for a U.S.-based company headquartered in California, with employees located across multiple U.S. states.

This role will ensure compliance with federal and multi-state employment laws (including California-specific regulations), manage core HR functions, and support leadership in building compliant, scalable people processes.

The position is remote and may be based in the United States or India, provided the candidate can effectively support U.S. time zones as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Multi-State HR Compliance (Including California)
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. federal employment laws
  • Ensure compliance with California employment regulations (wage/hour, meal/rest breaks, leave laws, etc.)
  • Monitor and manage compliance across multiple states where employees are located
  • Maintain and update employee handbook reflecting state-specific policies
  • Oversee onboarding documentation (I-9, W-4, state forms)
  • Guide management on employee relations, performance issues, and terminations
  • Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment process for U.S. hires
  • Draft compliant job descriptions
  • Coordinate interviews and offer letters
  • Oversee onboarding and background checks
  • Payroll & Benefits Coordination
  • Work with payroll providers to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing
  • Ensure compliance with state wage laws and overtime requirements
  • Oversee benefits administration (health insurance, retirement plans, leave policies)
  • Monitor PTO, sick leave, and FMLA compliance
  • Employee Relations & Performance Management
  • Advise managers on employee matters and workplace concerns
  • Support performance management systems and documentation
  • Manage disciplinary procedures and documentation
  • Ensure risk mitigation and proper documentation standards
  • HR Systems & Process Development
  • Maintain KEKA and employee records
  • Develop standardized HR processes
  • Create compliance tracking systems

Support scaling HR infrastructure as the company grows
