Job Description

Job Title

Vice President - Compliance Testing - Thematic and Sustenance testing

Objective

To lead and conduct thematic and sustenance compliance testing for Retail Liabilities, Cards and Payment related areas to check compliance to RBI regulations. The role ensures robust closure verification, sustainable control fixes, prevention of repeat findings.

Responsibilities

.Plan and run deep-dive thematic reviews targeting inspection hot-spots in the areas of Retail Liabilities, Cards and Payments related areas.

.Identify emerging regulatory risks and incorporate them into thematic testing plans.

.Refresh the testing universe quarterly based on new/updated RBI issuances and evolving risk themes.

.Deliver detailed reports with root-cause analysis and actionable recommendations.

.Translate Inspection observations (Audit Report/RBI Inspection Report, supervisory letters) into testable remediation requirements for Loans & Advances and Trade Finance.

.Execute assurance tests to validate the adequacy, effectiveness, and sustainability of management's responses and corrective actions.

.Verify closure evidence (policies/procedures updated, system control changes, training completed, reperform outcomes) and certify closure or flag gaps for rework.

.Maintain a central tracker of observations, commitments, owners, timelines, and closure status with supporting artifacts

.Maintain robust documentation and evidence for audit and regulatory reviews

.Expand thematic coverage based on resource availability and regulatory priorities

.Enforce standardized testing methodologies, sampling strategies, and documentation protocols.

.Mentor a team of compliance testing professionals, ensuring optimal resource allocation and capability building.

.Optimize resource allocation and manage timelines to meet regulatory and internal deadlines.

.Drive enhancements in testing processes through automation, analytics, and best practices.

.Collaborate with business units and CARO's to discuss compliance testing observations and track for remedial action.

.Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure timely escalation of findings

Required Qualifications and Skills

Education: Graduate/Postgraduate in Finance, Banking, or related field.

Experience:

  • 10-12+ years in compliance/audit/risk with strong exposure to Retail Liabilities, Cards, and Payments operations and regulations
  • Experience in validating RBI Inspection observations and closure processes
  • Deep knowledge of RBI directives for Retail Liabilities, Cards, Payments, AML/KYC, customer protection, and grievance redressal norms understanding of NPCI operational guidelines
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale compliance testing programs.
