Job Description

The Civil/CSA Source Inspection & Quality Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all civil, structural, and architectural materials, components, and assemblies supplied to the project meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and constructability prior to delivery to site. This role plays a critical part in proactively identifying defects, non-conformities, and risks at the earliest stage within the supply chain, thereby reducing rework, delays, and cost impacts during construction.

Operating at supplier and manufacturer facilities, the engineer provides independent verification that fabrication processes, material selection, workmanship, and finishing standards align with approved designs, specifications, and project requirements. The role also ensures that all products are fully traceable, correctly documented, and compliant with applicable codes and standards.

By embedding quality control at source, the position supports a right-first-time delivery approach, enabling seamless integration of CSA elements into fast-paced, high-specification data center construction programmes while contributing to overall project quality assurance and delivery certainty.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct source inspections for CSA-related materials (steel structures, precast elements, concrete products, architectural finishes, etc.) prior to dispatch.
  • Perform inspections across the manufacturing lifecycle:
    • Pre-production reviews (drawings, material approvals, supplier readiness)
    • In-process inspections (fabrication quality, welding, dimensional checks)
    • Final inspections and compliance verification
    • Pre-shipment inspections (packing, protection, documentation)
  • Verify compliance with:
    • Approved drawings, specifications, and material submittals
    • Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) / Quality Control Plans (QCPs)
    • Relevant standards (IS, ASTM, BS, etc.)
    • Project and client-specific requirements
  • Witness testing where applicable (e.g., material testing, weld inspections, coating inspections).
  • Raise and manage NCRs; track corrective and preventive actions to closure.
  • Ensure traceability of materials and documentation completeness.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and project QA/QC teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree or HND/Diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 10–15 years experience in large-scale construction projects, preferably data centers or mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong experience in vendor inspections, fabrication shops, and manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of structural steel, concrete systems, and architectural finishes.
  • Familiarity with international quality standards and inspection methodologies.
  • Certification in welding inspection (CSWIP or equivalent) is an advantage.
