Role Overview
We are looking for a visionary and execution-driven Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead technology strategy, architecture, security, and product engineering for our FinTech platform. The CTO will be responsible for building secure, scalable, compliant, and high-performance systems while aligning technology with business growth, regulatory requirements, and customer trust.
This role requires deep expertise in payments, banking APIs, compliance, cybersecurity, and high-availability systems, along with strong leadership and execution capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute the overall technology roadmap aligned with the company's business and regulatory strategy.
- Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board, translating business goals into scalable technical solutions.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies, regulations, and FinTech trends.
Platform Architecture & Engineering
- Design and maintain highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and secure architectures.
- Lead development of platforms across:
- Payments (Payout, Pay-in, Cards, UPI, Wallets)
- Digital Banking / Lending / Neo-Banking
- APIs & Integrations (Banks, PSPs, NPCI, Aggregators)
- Ensure 99.9%+ uptime and high-performance systems.
Security, Compliance & Risk
- Own application security, infrastructure security, and data protection.
- Ensure compliance with:
- RBI / NPCI guidelines
- PCI-DSS
- ISO 27001
- SOC 2
- GDPR / DPDP Act (India)
- Lead audits, VAPT, penetration testing, and incident response.
DevOps, Infrastructure & Cloud
- Oversee cloud infrastructure (AWS / GCP / Azure).
- Implement DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Optimize cost, performance, and reliability.
Product & Delivery
- Work closely with Product, Business, and Ops teams to ensure fast, reliable delivery.
- Own engineering velocity, code quality, release management, and SLAs.
- Enable rapid innovation without compromising security or compliance.
Team Building & Culture
- Build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering, DevOps, QA, and security teams.
- Establish a culture of ownership, accountability, security, and innovation.
- Define hiring standards, performance metrics, and career paths.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage technology vendors, banking partners, and third-party service providers.
- Review contracts, SLAs, and technical due diligence.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise
- Strong experience with:
- Backend: Node.js / Java / Go / Python
- Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis
- Microservices, REST, gRPC, event-driven systems
- Deep understanding of:
- Payment flows, settlement, reconciliation
- Banking APIs and third-party integrations
- Strong experience with cloud architecture and scalability.
FinTech Domain Knowledge
- Strong understanding of:
- Payments lifecycle
- Banking & NBFC tech stack
- Fraud detection & risk systems
- Regulatory reporting & audits
- Prior experience in FinTech, Banking, Payments, or Financial Services is mandatory.
Leadership & Management
- Proven experience leading teams of 20+ engineers.
- Experience working with founders, investors, and regulators.
- Strong decision-making, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience scaling a FinTech product from startup to growth stage.
- Experience handling high-volume transactions (TPS scale).
- Exposure to international payments or cross-border systems.
- MBA or advanced technical degree is a plus.
