Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Chef role based in Bengaluru. The Chef will plan and prepare a variety of meals and beverages in alignment with MITTI Cafés menus, nutritional standards, and food safety guidelines. Daily responsibilities include food preparation, cooking, plating, and ensuring consistency in taste, quality, and presentation across all service periods. The role involves supervising and guiding team members, including adults with disabilities, in kitchen tasks, hygiene practices, and basic culinary skills, while fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment. The Chef will also manage inventory, coordinate with suppliers, minimize food waste, maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, and support menu innovation based on seasonal ingredients and customer feedback.
Qualifications
- Professional culinary skills, including food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu execution in a café or restaurant setting.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and kitchen sanitation practices, with the ability to enforce them consistently.
- Experience managing kitchen operations, including inventory control, portioning, cost awareness, and coordination with vendors.
- Ability to train, mentor, and support team members with diverse abilities in a patient, inclusive, and respectful manner.
- Strong time management, organization, and multitasking skills to handle high-volume service periods efficiently.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with front-of-house staff, management, and partner organizations.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and peak hours as required by café operations.
- Formal culinary education or certification is preferred; relevant hands-on experience in a professional kitchen is essential.
