Job Description

About Company:

A Mid-sized listed specialty chemical company making pigments and dyes used in paints, plastics, and coatings.

Job Purpose:

• Develop and drive effective implementation of the financial strategy, policies, and processes in line with overall business objectives and growth plans.

• Monitor financial performance, manage financial risks, oversee activities such as raising and allocation of funds, accounting, treasury management, and ensure legal compliance.

Duties/Responsibilities/Activities:

Strategy & Planning:

• Define and implement the financial strategy (Controllership, Treasury, Taxation, Internal Audit & Compliance, Investor Relations) in alignment with global business objectives; translate regional business strategies into financial measures.

• Partner with senior management and regional business leaders to contribute to developing the Asia business strategy.

• Lead regional annual business planning and financial analysis; collaborate with country and function heads to develop regional budgets and set financial targets.

• Review and approve regional budgets based on business targets and strategic objectives.

• Provide strategic financial support to critical regional initiatives (Capex, M&A, expansion projects) through comprehensive financial analysis and insights.

Policies, Procedures & Governance:

• Oversee design and drive effective execution of financial policies and procedures related to financial domains (including accounting, treasury management, cost accounting, taxation, budgeting, risk management, credit, investor relations, legal compliance).

• Review and facilitate internal audits to ensure adherence to financial policies, controls and allocated budget limits; Establish robust process control to minimize process deviations and drive specific actions to resolve issues and bridge the gaps.

• Conduct periodic reviews to monitor key financial metrics. Direct corrective action plans as required.

Finance & Accounting:

• Oversee execution of accounting policies & procedures in compliance with accounting standards.

• Review and suggest modifications to finalize annual accounting reports and submit them for board approval.

• Review consolidation of financials (trial balances, reconciliations etc.) across all operating regions, including international subsidiaries, and ensure that books of accounts are ready for internal / external audits.

• Assess impact of legislative amendments such as accounting and costing standards on company costs and cost management practices.

• Ensure smooth coordination with statutory auditors and assist financial controllers (F&A Head) in providing clarifications; Oversee implementation of audit related recommendations.

• Monitor documentation and reporting of key finance & accounts activities and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.

• Ensure integrity of account receivable & payables process and monitor credit/ payables and receivables position of the firm.

Risk Management:

• Identify potential areas of financial risks and present them to Board and Managing Director.

• Develop governance mechanisms to mitigate a firm's financial and reputational risk.

• Formulate risk mitigation plan and strategies to manage financial risks for the entity (assets, forex, commodity, interest rate, etc.); Drive effective implementation of risk mitigation tactics across verticals.

Treasury & Investor Relations:

• Develop and drive execution of the firm's financing strategy; Review and approve capital financing decisions to facilitate growth plans.

• Assist new banking & treasury head in assessing future financial requirements, review strategic gaps in business plans / funding plans and identify funding options.

• Oversee optimum management of corporate funds through effective treasury management.

• Liaise with external bodies (Securities and exchange regulators such as SEBI) for approvals, permissions and any other issues that may arise.

• Establish robust relationships with financial institutions, banks and other lenders to ease funding as well as promote favorable terms for the entity including interest, payback period and other terms and conditions.

• Act as Single Point of Contact representing all finance sub-functions and ensure effective relationship management with the key investors.

Taxation:

• Oversee the design of taxation systems and controls and ensure effective implementation of taxation reforms (like GST) at an organization level.

• Ensure that the firm is fully compliant with all applicable national and international tax regulations and oversees functioning of Head- Taxation.

Legal & Company Secretarial:

• Direct the legal and company secretarial activities of the organization with a view to identify and mitigate legal risks; Conduct periodic reviews and ensure compliance with statutory norms.

• Oversee the statutory reporting process to ensure timely submission of the required information and compliance with the relevant rules and regulations.

• Overlook functioning of Company Secretary to ensure upholding and improvement of corporate governance standards.

• Ensure effective execution of various fiduciary and administrative duties of Company Secretary.

Review & Continuous Process Improvements:

• Review all financial domains on a periodic basis with respect to identified financial measures; Identify opportunities for improvement and undertake specific actions to enhance corporate finance service levels.

• Collaborate with Business Technology Head to identify and devise appropriate solutions for digital and automation needs in order to improve performance of financial systems and processes.

Capability Development & People Management:

• Develop employee capability and build functional excellence through various learning and development interventions and mentoring initiatives.

• Monitor the performance of the team on a continuous basis to identify and reward key performers.

• Actively participate in recruitment and development of talent for the function; Ensure availability of talent at all levels of the organization so that the Finance function is able to perform in an efficient manner.

Qualification - Qualified CA, 15-20 years, with a minimum of 10 years experience in manufacturing industry.
