Role Overview
PlanetSpark is seeking a highly driven and commercially astute Business Development Manager (Team Lead) to lead a team of Business Development Associates while driving revenue growth, operational excellence, and business performance.
This role goes beyond traditional sales management. The ideal candidate will operate with a strong ownership mindset, leveraging data, analytics, and AI-enabled insights to maximize sales productivity, improve conversion efficiency, and deliver sustainable business outcomes. The individual will be responsible for team performance, revenue generation, forecasting accuracy, and contributing to overall profitability objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesRevenue & P&L Ownership
- Drive achievement of weekly, monthly, and quarterly revenue targets.
- Take ownership of business performance metrics, including conversion rates, productivity, revenue realization, and profitability.
- Monitor sales funnel efficiency and implement strategies to improve revenue outcomes.
- Contribute to forecasting, business planning, and resource optimization initiatives.
- Ensure optimal utilization of team capacity to maximize revenue generation.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of approximately 10 Business Development Associates.
- Conduct regular coaching sessions, performance reviews, and development planning.
- Establish a high-performance culture focused on accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Identify skill gaps and execute targeted training interventions to improve team effectiveness.
- Drive employee engagement and retention through effective leadership practices.
Data, Analytics & AI-Driven Decision Making
- Leverage Google Sheets, MS Excel, CRM systems, and AI-powered tools to monitor business performance.
- Analyze sales data, identify trends, and recommend actionable insights to improve outcomes.
- Build and maintain performance dashboards and business reports for leadership review.
- Use predictive insights and analytics to improve sales forecasting and resource planning.
- Champion data-driven decision-making across the team.
Sales Excellence & Process Optimization
- Ensure adherence to sales processes, quality standards, and customer engagement best practices.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve conversion rates and customer experience.
- Drive execution excellence across lead management, follow-ups, and pipeline progression.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business growth initiatives.
Candidate ProfileEssential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Management, or a related field.
- 4–5 years of experience in Sales, Business Development, Inside Sales
- Proven experience managing teams of 10 or more sales professionals.
- Strong track record of consistently achieving or exceeding revenue targets.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business acumen skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in EdTech, SaaS, Consumer Internet, or high-growth startup environments.
- Exposure to revenue operations, forecasting, and business planning.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled sales productivity tools and CRM platforms.
- Experience managing business metrics beyond sales targets, including profitability and operational efficiency.
