Summary:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for leading the company's sales strategy, driving growth, and overseeing customer retention across South region. In addition to managing and mentoring the key accounts, this role carries an individual sales portfolio, focusing on developing and maintaining key customer relationships to support the company's long-term business objectives. The role requires a hands-on leader who combines strategic vision with active business development and a deep understanding of freight forwarding and logistics operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Business Development & Market Expansion
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development plan targeting high-potential sectors, accounts, and trade lanes.
- Leverage industry insights and competitor analysis to position the company's services as preferred solutions in the market.
- Work closely with the leadership team to identify emerging trends and opportunities, ensuring proactive responses to shifts in the industry and client needs.
Key Client Acquisition & Relationship Building
- Proactively identify and secure new clients.
- Establish long-term relationships with clients at various levels, understand their supply chain needs and translate these into effective solutions.
- Develop and conduct persuasive presentations and proposals that communicate the company's value in freight forwarding and end-to-end logistics solutions.
Account Development & Cross-selling
- Maintain and grow relationships with key accounts, ensuring satisfaction and long-term partnership through personalized service and responsive support.
- Collaborate with internal teams to explore and implement additional service offerings (e.g., customs brokerage, warehousing, e-commerce solutions) to deepen client engagement.
- Conduct regular business reviews with key clients, identifying opportunities for expansion and optimizing service delivery based on client feedback
Cross-functional Collaboration & Solution Customization
- Partner with operational, customs, and compliance teams to ensure all client requirements are met with optimal service standards and regulatory adherence.
- Work with the product and marketing teams to develop customized solutions and targeted marketing campaigns that align with client needs and market trends.
- Act as the client advocates within the organization, ensuring operational alignment with sales commitments and handling complex service inquiries.
Sales Performance Management & Reporting
- Drive sales activities to meet and exceed revenue targets and KPIs, ensuring a robust sales pipeline and consistent conversion of opportunities.
- Use CRM and analytics tools to track performance metrics, provide accurate forecasts, and maintain a detailed understanding of market conditions.
- Prepare regular sales reports and market insights for the senior leadership team, offering actionable recommendations for enhancing business outcomes.
Required Skills and Abilities:

- Minimum 5 years experience of business development or sales experience within the freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain industry, preferably with a global freight forwarder.
- Deep understanding of international freight forwarding (air, ocean, and multimodal), customs regulations, trade compliance, and supply chain logistics.
- Familiarity with Indian market dynamics, major trade routes, and industry-specific challenges. Strong client management, negotiation, and solution-selling abilities, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strategic mindset with excellent analytical skills to assess market trends, develop forecasts, and identify new opportunities.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and business intelligence tools.
- High level of cultural awareness and experience in working with global teams
