About The Role

As the Business Development Manager (BDM), your role will be as a strategic leader responsible for driving revenue and geographical growth by identifying new market opportunities and building lasting relationships with clients and industry partners. You will focus on thecommercial and salesaspects of the firm, bridging the gap between creative services and business profitability by acting as the connecting link between the clients vision and the firm's creative team, ensuring that the proposals are both technically feasible and commercially viable. You will drive revenue growth by identifying new clients, pitching design services, and closing projects. You will be responsible for market research, networking, building relationships with architects, HNI brokers, home & interior, consumer durable product manufacturers and real estate developers, delivering tailored proposals to meet revenue and sales targets.

Key Responsibilities

Your core duties will include (but not limited to):

ؠClient Relationship Management

Act as the primary point of contact for new prospects, nurturing relationships- from initial enquiry through project handover; maintain long term relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business and positive referrals

ؠLead Generation & Sales

Identify, pursue and secure new business opportunities in residential, commercial and retail interior segments by means of identifying potential projects through networking, site visits and digital platforms.

ؠStrategic Partnerships

Drives revenue by acquiring new residential/commercial projects, fostering partnerships with architects/developers, and managing client relationships. They identify opportunities, negotiate contracts, and meet sales targets, often requiring experience in the interiors or real estate

ؠClient Consultation, Pitching & Negotiation

Meeting with potential clients to understand their design requirements, budget and timelines. Prepare and deliver high- quality and tailored presentations and pitch decks, proposals and project quotations that showcase the firm's portfolio in collaboration with the design team

ؠMarket Research

Track industry trends, competitor activities and market demand to identify new growth areas; research on the emerging trends in the interior design & fit-out industries to stay competitive

ؠNetworking

Attend and organize promotional industry events, exhibitions and conferences to expand the professional network.

ؠKPI Reporting

Prepare reports on sales forecasts, performance and key performance indicators (KPIs)

ؠProposal & Contract Management

Coordinate with the design and estimation teams to prepare accurate quotations and cost estimates; this should ideally include negotiating terms and closing contracts to meet monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets

ؠAdministrative Expertise

Should possess proven expertise of expanding footprints to newer markets and territories; must have prior experience of team management across different geographies to create a centralized reporting matrix

Essential Skills

vIndustry Knowledge: A strong understanding of the interior design principles, concepts, materials, cost estimation, finishes, modular solutions and the overall project execution process

vCommunication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills for high-stakes pitching that are critical for selling a creative vision to stakeholders; exceptional communication, negotiation and public speaking abilities for HNI client meetings

vNetworking: Proven ability to network effectively at industry events and trade shows

vNegotiation: Proven ability to persuasively close deals while maintaining positive client relationships

vStrategic Thinking: Ability to analyze market data to forecast sales and identify growth areas

vTechnical Proficiency: Expert knowledge in handling tech tools such as Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software (e.g. Zoho and Salesforce) for tracking leads and sales pipelines

Required Qualifications & Experience

A Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, Business, Marketing or a related field (will be an added advantage)

3 to 8+ years in business development and sales specifically within the interior design, fit-out or luxury furniture industries

Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills

Proven ability to meet and exceed sales quotas & revenue goals

Knowledge of interior design, colour theory and material application

Experience with CRM software and sales reporting

Consistent achievement of KPIs encompassing revenue growth, lead conversion rate, Client Satisfaction Score (retention) and number of new projects acquired
