Global Business Development is a small but mighty team that works to analyze markets, shape emerging business models, and advise and execute industrial energy strategy.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Business Development Lead to shape Tesla's entry into India for utility-scale energy storage. This role will be responsible for developing go-to-market strategies, navigating regulatory landscapes, and securing key deals. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of policy and commercial expertise, coupled with a deep understanding of local market dynamics and a proven track record of driving business growth in the renewable energy sector.

Responsibilities:
Market Expansion Strategy:
Develop and execute a comprehensive market expansion strategy for industrial energy storage solutions across India. Segment the market and prioritize the most attractive opportunities based on economics, customer fit, political feasibility, and other factors.

Policy Advocacy and Government Relations:
Engage with local and national governments, policymakers, and regulators to shape policies and regulations to drive greater growth of renewables and unlock energy storage deployment.

Market Intelligence and Offer Optimization:
Conduct in-depth market analysis to understand local market dynamics, competitive landscape, and customer requirements. Refine product offerings, pricing strategies, and go-to-market approaches to maximize competitiveness and win rates. Provide strategic guidance on product positioning, value proposition development, and differentiation strategies tailored to India.

Business Development and Deal Origination:
Identify and pursue partnership opportunities with key industry players, utilities, and commercial entities. Lead negotiations and drive the signing of first deals to establish a foothold in

target markets.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the renewable energy or energy storage industries, with a focus on business development, policy advocacy, or commercial strategy. Demonstrated experience engaging with energy utilities and grid operators preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully driving business growth and securing strategic deals in India.
  • Deep understanding of local market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and policy landscapes.
  • Strong network of relationships with senior government officials, C-suite level industry stakeholders, and decision-makers in the energy sector.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
