Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
• Own and deliver monthly and quarterly revenue targets for the Chennai branch
• Identify, prospect, and convert new clients across freight forwarding, customs clearance, warehousing, and surface transportation
• Leverage existing relationships in the South market to generate immediate business pipeline
• Develop and execute a structured sales plan targeting key industries auto components, pharma, textiles, FMCG, and manufacturing exporters
• Negotiate rates, contracts, and service agreements with clients
Branch Operations & Management
• Oversee day-to-day branch operations including warehouse management, documentation, and customs coordination
• Liaise with Chennai port, ICD, CFS operators, shipping lines, and customs authorities
• Ensure operational compliance with CBIC regulations, EXIM policies, and company SOPs
• Build and manage relationships with local vendors trucking partners, CHA agents, and last-mile providers
Reporting & Accountability
• Report directly to the Head – South Region with weekly sales pipeline updates and monthly P&L summaries
• Maintain accurate records of client interactions, shipments, and billing in the CRM system
• Ensure collections are on track proactively follow up on receivables
• Recruit, onboard, and mentor future branch team members as the business scales
Qualifications & Experience
• Minimum 10 years of experience in sales within the logistics and freight forwarding industry
• Proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets in the Chennai / South market
• Strong working knowledge of international freight (air & sea), customs clearance procedures, and domestic transportation
• Existing client network in South ability to bring business from day one is essential
• Hands-on experience with Chennai port operations, ICD, and CFS handling
• Familiarity with EXIM documentation, Bill of Lading, airway bills, and customs filing procedures
• Experience managing or mentoring a small sales team is preferred
• Graduate degree in any discipline; MBA or post-graduate qualification in Logistics/Supply Chain is an advantage
Skills & Competencies
• Excellent communication skills in English and Tamil both written and verbal
• Strong negotiation and client relationship management skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take ownership without hand-holding
• High degree of integrity and transparency must lead by example on compliance and reporting
• Commercially sharp understands pricing, margins, and freight market dynamics
• Comfortable with CRM tools and basic MS Office / Excel for reporting
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment with weekly accountability
