Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more scientifically rigorous AI models — and we need expert biochemists to make it happen. Your deep knowledge of molecular biology, enzyme kinetics, and metabolic systems will directly shape how AI reasons through complex life science problems.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed to fit around your existing commitments. No prior AI experience is required — just your scientific expertise.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Challenging Problems — Create advanced biochemistry questions spanning protein folding, nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, metabolic flux, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance
- Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Write precise, step-by-step technical responses that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning in AI systems
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and quantitative proofs for scientific accuracy and adherence to established standards
- Identify Reasoning Failures — Spot logical errors in AI reasoning — such as incorrect stoichiometry, misapplied stereochemistry, or flawed mechanistic logic — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
- Work Independently — Complete task-based assignments asynchronously, on a schedule that works for you
Who You Are
- PhD-level expertise in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline (completed or in final stages)
- Strong foundational knowledge in one or more core areas: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics
- Ability to communicate complex biochemical and chemical concepts clearly and precisely in written form
- High attention to detail when reviewing chemical equations, molecular mechanisms, and experimental protocols
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote setting
- No prior AI or data annotation experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or scientific peer review
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
- Background in science writing, curriculum development, or technical communication
