Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Backup Administrator to manage and maintain enterprise backup environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring data protection, backup reliability, and successful recovery processes across the organisation's IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor enterprise backup solutions to ensure successful backup operations
- Perform backup scheduling, configuration, and maintenance activities
- Monitor backup jobs and troubleshoot failures or performance issues
- Conduct periodic restore tests to ensure data recovery readiness
- Maintain backup policies, retention schedules, and documentation
- Work closely with infrastructure and system teams to ensure data protection compliance
- Perform daily health checks and reporting of backup systems
- Support disaster recovery planning and testing activities
Required Skills and Experience
- 37 years of experience in backup administration or data protection roles
- Hands-on experience with enterprise backup tools (such as Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, Commvault, or similar)
- Good understanding of backup strategies, retention policies, and disaster recovery concepts
- Experience supporting backup operations for servers, databases, and virtual environments
- Basic knowledge of storage systems and enterprise IT infrastructure
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in enterprise data centre environments
- Familiarity with virtualisation platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
- Relevant certifications in backup or storage technologies are a plus
