Job Description

Join us as an Associate Specialist Architect

  • We'll look to you to support the design and implementation of architecture within a specialist domain such as Business, Infrastructure, Data, Security, AI, Integration, Channels or similar
  • You'll assist in solution design and participate in peer reviews to ensure adherence to architecture standards and best practices
  • This is a chance to contribute to the development of architecture knowledge within the bank by sharing insights, participating in community initiatives, and mentoring junior team members as needed
  • We're offering this role at associate vice president level

What you'll do

In this key role, you'll assist in the realisation of the Enterprise and Solution Architectures working as part of development teams throughout the engineering development lifecycle. This includes providing technical guidance, resolving architectural impediments, and championing the adoption of architecture patterns and practices.

We'll look to you to support Program Managers, Solution Architects, and Engineers in developing reusable and scalable capabilities within your specific domain, ensuring alignment with the bank's strategic initiatives.

You'll also:

  • Support the development of architecture models within a specific domain, ensuring alignment with the bank's Strategic Target Architecture
  • Support the adoption of specialist domain architecture enablers, assisting in the creation of playbooks, collaborating with peers, and helping educate stakeholders on best practices and alignment with strategic roadmaps
  • Maintain familiarity with and apply approved tools, models, reference architectures, and design patterns, providing guidance to development teams on best practices and suitable alternatives
  • Engage in design reviews for projects, contributing to the assessment of solution quality, identifying potential risks, and communicating findings to relevant stakeholders for further action
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies within your domain, assessing potential opportunities or risks and contributing insights to the architecture governance framework to inform decision-making

The skills you'll need

To excel in this role, you'll need knowledge in area of specialism including good understanding of business use cases and emerging trends that drive organisational success. You'll also have knowledge of modern technologies such as Cloud, Microservices, AI along with agile architecture and DevOps practices.

In addition, you'll need:

  • Experience of collaborative decision-making processes, partnering with business and technology colleagues to articulate and evolve architectural direction, while ensuring adherence to key architecture principles and alignment with strategic goals
  • Basic experience in creating business cases to influence senior stakeholders to secure investment for architecture initiatives
  • Experience of participating in overseeing and assuring the quality of architecture designs including supporting Architecture and Design Reviews to validate that solutions meet business needs and comply with architecture standards, with a focus on risk management and governance
