Team

SPV investment accounting encompasses the recording, valuation, and reporting of investment activity held within special purpose vehicles (SPV) that are established to isolate specific assets or strategies. This includes tracking capital contributions and distributions, purchase and sale transactions, income accruals (such as interest, dividends, and realized/unrealized gains), professional fees, and investor allocations in accordance with the SPV's governing documents.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced SPV Investment Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting for special purpose vehicles (SPVs) established to hold investments across multiple asset classes. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate recording, valuation, and reporting of investment activity, while maintaining strong controls, compliance with governing documents, and transparent reporting for internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain books and records for SPVs, including investment activity, income accruals, and expenses
  • Create and maintain SPV reference data (meta setup/maintenance) to support accurate accounting, reporting, and downstream processing
  • Process and reconcile SPV capital activity, including contributions, distributions, and cash clearance
  • Coordinate SPV tax and professional fee payments; track related accruals and supporting documentation
  • Record, reconcile, and support valuation of investment transactions, including SPV pricing and intrafund pricing
  • Perform month-end P&L reconciliations and tie-outs
  • Execute SPV-to-equity controls, including transaction checks, realized P&L monitoring, and SPV-to-equity P&L reconciliations; investigate breaks and drive resolution
  • Maintain SPV participation tracking and ensure accurate recording
  • Partner with Investment Operations and Accounting to coordinate end-to-end investment lifecycle processing and close deliverables
  • Support periodic reporting (including LT reporting) by preparing schedules and analyses for internal stakeholders
  • Support audits and internal reviews; identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls across SPV accounting workflows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or progress toward CPA a plus)
  • 37+ years of experience in investment accounting, fund accounting, or SPV-related accounting roles
  • Preferred candidates from Mumbai location only
  • Proficiency with Excel and experience with VPM or comparable portfolio/fund accounting systems is required
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global team environment
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and tasks as needed
  • Strong desire to learn new skills and grow professionally
