Job Description

Position Overview

We are looking for the Assistant Professor in Psychology. The successful candidate will contribute to the department's academic mission through excellence in teaching, impactful research, student mentorship, and active participation in institutional initiatives. The candidate is expected to demonstrate expertise in core areas of psychology and contribute to the advancement of psychological science, interdisciplinary research, and applied psychological practice. The role requires commitment to innovative pedagogy, scholarly research, and engagement with contemporary psychological issues affecting individuals and society.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching and Academic Engagement

Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in core areas of psychology, such as:

  1. Introduction to Psychology
  2. Developmental Psychology
  3. Social Psychology
  4. Cognitive Psychology
  5. Individual Differences
  6. Research Methods
  7. Psychological Assessment and Intervention

  • Design and update course syllabi, teaching materials, and evaluation methods in alignment with institutional and regulatory standards

  • Implement innovative teaching strategies, including experiential learning, case studies, group discussions, and project-based learning

  • Supervise student dissertations, theses, and research projects

  • Mentor students in their academic, research, and career development

2. Research and Scholarly Contributions

  1. Develop and maintain an active research agenda in psychology.
  2. Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and academic publications.
  3. Present research at national and international conferences.
  4. Seek external funding and research grants
  5. Collaborate with faculty and researchers in interdisciplinary research initiatives.

3. Academic Administration and Institutional Service

  • Participate in curriculum development and program design in psychology.

  • Contribute to departmental meetings, committees, and institutional governance.

  • Assist in organizing academic seminars, workshops, conferences, and guest lectures.

  • Support institutional initiatives related to accreditation, quality assurance, and academic development.

4. Community Engagement and Outreach

  • Participate in community engagement initiatives related to mental health, wellbeing, and psychological awareness.

  • Conduct training programs, workshops, and public lectures on psychological themes.

  • Collaborate with schools, organizations, and institutions to promote psychological literacy andwellbeing.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Psychology from a recognized university.

  • Ph.D. in Psychology (or submitted thesis) in any relevant specialization.

  • NET/SET qualification as per UGC regulations (if applicable).

  • Strong foundation in psychological theories, research methods, and academic teaching.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong teaching and presentation skills.

  • Proficiency in research design, data analysis, and academic writing.

  • Ability to mentor and guide students effectively

  • Commitment to ethical practices in research and teaching.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary academic environments.
