Role Overview
The Assistant Manager – Procurement will be responsible for managing procurement
activities for cookware and appliance categories, including domestic and global sourcing.
The role involves vendor management, price negotiations, transactional procurement, cost
optimization, and ensuring timely procurement while maintaining quality standards and
optimal inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic & Operational Sourcing
∙Manage sourcing activities for cookware and appliance products, both domestic and
international suppliers.
∙Identify and develop new vendors globally and locally to ensure cost
competitiveness and supply continuity.
∙Conduct supplier evaluations, benchmarking, and negotiations to secure the best
commercial terms.
2. Cost Optimization
∙Optimize MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) to balance inventory and procurement
cost.
∙Work on cargo consolidation, freight optimization, and logistics cost reduction for
global shipments.
∙Monitor landed cost analysis, including freight, duties, and other import-related
expenses.
∙Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality and delivery
timelines.
3. Transactional Procurement
∙Handle day-to-day procurement transactions including purchase orders, order
tracking, and supplier coordination.
∙Ensure timely procurement and supply availability for production or sales
requirements.
∙Coordinate with logistics, warehouse, finance, and quality teams for smooth
procurement operations.
Vendor Management Responsibilities
∙Identify, evaluate, and onboard new domestic and international vendors for
cookware and appliance categories to ensure a competitive and reliable supplier
base.
∙Conduct supplier capability assessments, including manufacturing capacity, quality
standards, compliance requirements, and financial stability.
∙Develop and maintain long-term strategic relationships with key suppliers to ensure
continuity of supply, innovation support, and cost competitiveness.
∙Negotiate pricing, payment terms, MOQ, lead time, tooling costs, and logistics
arrangements to optimize procurement efficiency and working capital.
∙Monitor and track supplier performance metrics, including:
oOn-time delivery
oQuality consistency
oCost competitiveness
oResponsiveness and service levels
∙Implement Vendor Performance Scorecards and conduct periodic vendor review
meetings to discuss performance improvements and cost reduction opportunities.
∙Work closely with suppliers to drive cost optimization initiatives, including value
engineering, packaging optimization, and production efficiency improvements.
∙Collaborate with suppliers to optimize Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) and support
flexible procurement planning while maintaining inventory efficiency.
∙Coordinate with vendors for cargo consolidation, shipment planning, and freight cost
optimization, especially for global sourcing.
∙Ensure suppliers comply with company standards, product specifications, and
regulatory requirements related to cookware and appliance products.
∙Manage vendor contracts, commercial agreements, and documentation, ensuring
clarity on commercial terms and compliance.
∙Handle supplier escalations, quality issues, and delivery delays, and implement
corrective actions in coordination with internal quality and logistics teams.
∙Support the development of alternate vendors and risk mitigation strategies to
reduce dependency on single suppliers.
∙Work with suppliers to support new product development (NPD), product
customization, and tooling development for cookware and appliance categories.
5. Market Intelligence & Product Sourcing
∙Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain risks related to
cookware and appliances.
∙Identify new sourcing opportunities, technologies, and materials to enhance
product competitiveness.
∙Work closely with product development teams for new product sourcing and cost
benchmarking.
6. Compliance & Documentation
∙Ensure procurement processes comply with company policies and regulatory
requirements.
∙Manage import documentation, contracts, and supplier agreements where
applicable.
∙Maintain accurate procurement records and reports.
Key Skills & Competencies
∙Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
∙Experience in global sourcing and import procurement appliance handling is
mandatory
∙Knowledge of MOQ optimization, freight management, and cargo planning
∙Understanding of cookware and appliance product categories
∙Strong analytical and cost evaluation skills
∙Excellent communication and coordination abilities
∙Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement tools
Qualifications
∙Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, or related
field
∙MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain or Operations preferred
Experience
∙5–8 years of procurement experience
∙Proven experience in appliance or cookware sourcing
∙Hands-on experience with international suppliers, imports, and logistics
coordination
