Job Summary

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Manager – Legal to support and supervise the day-to-day operations of both the Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) and Paralegal Support teams. The ideal candidate should possess a strong legal background, a deep understanding of CLM and paralegal processes, and prior experience managing legal workflows in an LPO or legal services environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities while directly contributing to client success and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Team Support & Supervision:

  • Assist the Team Lead/Manager in supervising and guiding teams handling contract drafting, abstraction, review, redlining, and backend support paralegal services for Insurance Defense, Personal injury, Lemon Law and employment law.
  • Oversee task allocation, monitor team performance, and ensure consistent quality and timely delivery.
  • Provide on-the-job training, performance feedback, and foster knowledge-sharing across CLM and paralegal teams.
  • Act as a secondary escalation point for client queries or complex legal tasks.

Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM)

  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of commercial contracts including drafting, redlining, negotiation support, execution, renewals, and close-outs.
  • Ensure adherence to client-specific guidelines, internal SLAs, and legal best practices.
  • Draft and review various agreements including NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, and procurement contracts.

Paralegal Support

  • Supervise and support paralegal team functions backend support paralegal services for Insurance Defense, Personal injury, Lemon Law and employment law.
  • Ensure all outputs meet legal and compliance standards and are aligned with client expectations.

Client Interaction & Reporting

  • Coordinate with clients to understand requirements, clarify legal objectives, and ensure service excellence across both CLM and paralegal functions in Governance meetings.
  • Participate in client meetings and prepare performance reports, metrics dashboards, and status updates.

Process Optimization & Compliance

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of SOPs, templates, and workflow documentation for both contract and paralegal services.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiency, quality improvement, and automation.
  • Ensure team compliance with legal and regulatory standards and client confidentiality protocols.

Required Skills And Qualifications

  • Education: LLB or equivalent law degree from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: 7–8 years of experience in legal operations, with:
  • At least 1–2 years in a supervisory role (Assistant Manager) or 3–4 years as a Team Lead.
  • Hands-on experience in both contract lifecycle management and paralegal support in an LPO.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law and commercial agreements (NDA, MSA, SOW, etc.).
  • Experience with legal support functions such as research, document review, discovery, and compliance tracking.
  • Familiarity with CLM tools like Icertis, Ironclad, DocuSign, LinkSquares, Coupa etc.
  • Excellent communication, legal drafting, stakeholder management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite; experience with legal tech and document management tools is a plus.
