Job Summary:
The Territory Manager - Sales will be responsible for driving sales growth and managing customer relationships within a designated territory for a leading seeds company. This role involves executing sales strategies, expanding the customer base, and achieving revenue targets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agricultural sales, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the seeds market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and implement a territory-specific sales plan in alignment with the company's overall sales strategy.
- Identify and target key customers, including farmers, distributors, and agribusinesses, to drive sales of the company's seed products.
- Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closing deals, ensuring customer satisfaction and long-term relationships.
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Conduct regular visits to customer sites (farms, distributors, etc.) to assess needs, demonstrate products, and provide technical support.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner, ensuring a high level of customer service.
- Market Analysis & Business Development:
- Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities, emerging trends, and competitive activities within the territory.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor products, and customer preferences to adjust sales strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and campaigns tailored to the territory.
- Sales Performance & Reporting:
- Achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the territory.
- Track and report on sales performance, including revenue, profit margins, and market share, using CRM and other sales tools.
- Provide regular updates to the Regional Sales Manager on sales activities, customer feedback, and market conditions.
- Product Knowledge & Training:
- Stay informed about the company's seed products, including their features, benefits, and competitive advantages.
- Educate customers and distributors on product usage, benefits, and best practices through presentations, demos, and training sessions.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to represent the company and enhance product knowledge.
- Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, agronomy, and supply chain, to ensure seamless delivery of products and services.
- Collaborate with other Territory Managers to share insights, strategies, and best practices for sales success.
- Participate in regular sales meetings and training sessions to stay updated on company policies, product updates, and industry trends.
- Budget Management:
- Manage the territory's sales budget, including travel, promotional activities, and customer incentives.
- Ensure that all sales activities are conducted within the allocated budget and maximize the return on investment.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications in sales or agribusiness is a plus.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in agricultural sales, preferably within the seeds industry.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Experience in managing a sales territory and working independently.

- Excellent sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
