Job Description

Job Summary

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales, managing distribution networks, ensuring product visibility, and overseeing depot operations in the assigned territory. The role demands effective distributor and team management, financial discipline, and proactive business development to achieve volume and growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Distributor Management

  • Ensure distribution and visibility of company products in the assigned territory
  • Strengthen customer relationship management and address distributor or customer grievances
  • Appoint Company Distributors (CD) and Super Stockists (SS) in line with business requirements
  • Assess and ensure adequate fund requirements and infrastructure availability with distributors to meet sales targets
  • Monitor distributor performance and support operational efficiencies

Driving Sales

  • Plan and execute CD/ID-wise target setting
  • Manage stock allocation and CD-wise billing
  • Gather and report market intelligence, including competitor activities and consumer trends
  • Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities for growth
  • Conduct regular sales reviews and performance analysis

Financial Management

  • Control outstanding debtors and drive recovery processes
  • Ensure distributors maintain sufficient Bank Guarantees (BG) or Security Deposits (SD) to support volume targets

Workforce Management

  • Build and strengthen the sales team through structured recruitment at ASE and SR levels
  • Guide and motivate the team to achieve their targets
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and ensure adherence to company sales policies
  • Provide induction, training, and continuous development for the sales team

Brand Building and Business Development

  • Plan and execute Below the Line (BTL) activities in the assigned area
  • Ensure effective implementation of consumer promotions and brand visibility efforts
  • Develop new business channels and retain existing market share

Depot and CFA Management

  • Oversee CFA, depot, and warehouse operations within the territory
  • Manage stock levels, inventory, and indenting processes
  • Focus on the liquidation of slow-moving and short-expiry stocks
  • Coordinate efficiently between CFA, logistics, and the company for seamless supply chain operations

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Post-graduate in Management (MBA or equivalent is mandatory)
  • Minimum two years of experience in an Area Managerial role in the Mumbai region
  • Proficient in data reporting and advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Proven experience in FMCG industry, preferably in food or staples
  • Strong leadership and team-handling capabilities
