Application & Production Support Engineer

Key Skills & Experience Required

• Hands-on experience with Windows and Unix operating systems
• Proficient in one or more database technologies:
• MSSQL, Oracle, Sybase, DB2
• OCA/OCP certified professional
• Knowledge of Middleware technologies
• Preferably experienced in NCB production support role

Job Responsibilities

• Timely escalation of incidents to Supervisor / Unit Head / Vendors for quick resolution
• Prepare Knowledge Base documentation for newly received solutions
• Maintain MIS reports for issues, changes, and application downtimes
• Perform automation/scheduling of activities independently or with server/network teams
• Work independently or in collaboration with vendors for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and issue resolution
• Conduct System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for issue resolutions
• Liaise with BPRG and BSG for analysis and resolution of issues
• Perform periodic housekeeping of databases and application setups to ensure system availability and uptime
• Continuously monitor:
• Application-specific mails
• OEM reports
• Transaction reports
• Alert parameters
• Take actions based on KB documentation
• Adhere to the Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management processes
• Execute changes to various environments as per approved Change Management Plan
• Log and track Problem Tickets for recurring incidents
• Manage database and application backups and restoration tasks
• Address vulnerabilities through configuration changes and system upgrades
• Capture and analyze system utilization and database growth patterns for Capacity Management inputs
• Undertake and support BCP (Business Continuity Planning) drills
• Execute specialized activities assigned to the team
• Monitor and analyze database alert logs and resolve production issues
• Manage and resolve incidents related to:
• Databases
• Database backups
• Tape backups
• Log shipping jobs
• Scheduled and automation jobs
• Monitor long-running queries, especially during peak load periods (e.g., month-end processing)
• Capture and analyze transaction volumes as inputs for Infrastructure Review (IR)
