Location: India

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented and result-driven Accounting Specialist to support the day-to-day finance and accounting operations of the organization. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in accounting processes, reconciliations, taxation compliance, vendor management, and petty cash handling. The role requires strong knowledge of financial controls, accuracy in transaction recording, and the ability to ensure timely closure of accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Inward (RM) Accounting
  • Account for inward transactions related to Raw Materials (RM) accurately in the accounting system.
  • Verify purchase entries with supporting documents such as purchase orders, goods receipt notes, and supplier invoices.
  • Ensure correct booking of inward material transactions as per company policies and accounting standards.
  • Coordinate with stores, purchase, and accounts teams to resolve discrepancies in inward accounting.
2. Service Bill Accounting
  • Process and account for service invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Verify service bills with purchase orders, work completion documents, agreements, and approvals.
  • Ensure proper classification of expenses under relevant GL codes and cost centers.
  • Check compliance-related aspects such as GST applicability and TDS deductions before posting.
3. RCNI Reconciliation
  • Perform regular RCNI (Received but Credit Note/Invoice Not Issued or related reconciliation as per company process) reconciliation.
  • Identify mismatches between goods received and invoices/accounting records.
  • Follow up with internal departments and vendors to clear pending RCNI items within timelines.
  • Maintain proper reconciliation statements and supporting records for audit purposes.
4. Vendor Ledger Scrutiny and Reconciliation
  • Review and scrutinize vendor ledgers periodically to identify discrepancies, old outstanding items, debit/credit balances, and unreconciled entries.
  • Carry out vendor statement reconciliations and resolve differences through proper follow-up.
  • Ensure timely clearing of advances, debit notes, credit notes, and pending adjustments.
  • Maintain healthy vendor account balances and support smooth payment processing.
5. General Ledger Reconciliation
  • Perform regular reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve unusual balances, unreconciled transactions, and aged outstanding entries.
  • Prepare reconciliation schedules for monthly and annual financial closures.
  • Ensure proper documentation and audit trail for all reconciliation activities.
6. Indirect Taxation GST
  • Handle GST-related accounting and compliance activities.
  • Verify purchase and service invoices for GST correctness, including GSTIN, tax rates, input tax credit eligibility, and place of supply.
  • Reconcile purchase register with GST records and assist in GST return data preparation.
  • Coordinate for resolution of vendor GST mismatches and ensure proper claim of input tax credit.
  • Support audits, assessments, and documentation related to GST compliance.
7. Direct Taxation TDS
  • Ensure accurate deduction of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) on applicable payments as per Income Tax provisions.
  • Check vendor invoices and payment transactions for correct TDS applicability and rates.
  • Maintain TDS records and support timely deposit and return filing processes.
  • Assist in reconciliation of TDS payable and preparation of supporting schedules.
  • Coordinate with vendors/employees for TDS-related queries and certificates, where required.
8. Coordination and Reporting
  • Coordinate with internal departments such as purchase, stores, operations, and taxation teams for smooth accounting operations.
  • Generate MIS reports, schedules, and reconciliations as required by management.
  • Highlight process gaps, discrepancies, or risks to the reporting manager on a timely basis.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Skills and Abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping
  • Good understanding of GST and TDS
  • Experience in vendor reconciliation and ledger scrutiny
  • Knowledge of month-end closing activities
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Good analytical and reconciliation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting/ERP software
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work in a structured manner
Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in Commerce (M-Com) or MBA (Finance)
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience in finance and accounts in a manufacturing setup
  • Practical exposure to accounting, taxation, reconciliations, and vendor management
