Role Overview

The Academic Counselor role is an individual contributor position responsible for owning end-to-end student counseling and admissions conversations. This role blends career counseling with consultative sales, ensuring students choose the right, career-oriented program aligned with their goals.

This is not a pure telecalling role.

This is a high-ownership, target-driven counseling role where credibility, clarity, and follow-through matter.

Key Responsibilities

1. End-to-End Academic & Career Counseling

  • Guide students through their academic and career decision-making journey
  • Conduct detailed need assessment and career-fit discussions
  • Explain programs, outcomes, eligibility, timelines, and policies clearly and honestly
  • Support students from first interaction to enrollment
  • Handle both student and parent conversations with maturity and confidence

2. Lead Management & Conversion Ownership

  • Reach out to 100150 students daily via calls, WhatsApp, and follow-ups
  • Own individual conversion metrics across:
  • Lead Application
  • Application Offer
  • Offer Enrollment
  • Proactively manage:
  • High-intent leads
  • Fence-sitters
  • Stalled or high-risk cases
  • Ensure timely follow-ups aligned with admission cycles and deadlines

3. High-Quality Student & Parent Experience

  • Address concerns related to:
  • Career outcomes
  • ROI of programs
  • Long-term career pathways
  • Maintain a consultative, non-pushy approach focused on fit, not pressure
  • Escalate complex or sensitive cases appropriately

4. Process Discipline & CRM Hygiene

  • Maintain accurate and timely updates in CRM
  • Follow admissions policies, communication standards, and compliance norms
  • Ensure clean documentation across applications, offers, and enrollments

5. Ethics, Professionalism & Ownership

  • Uphold ethical admissions and counseling standards at all times
  • Take ownership of outcomes, learning, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with peers and managers to share best practices

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 14 years of experience in:
  • Academic counseling
  • Admissions counseling
  • Education sales
  • Inside sales (consultative / high-ticket)
  • Strong experience in student-facing and parent-facing conversations
  • Comfortable with targets and daily calling volumes
  • Experience with structured funnels, targets, and CRMs
  • Someone who enjoys sales but believes in honest counseling

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (mandatory)
  • Master's degree in Education or related field (preferred)
  • Strong interest in education, careers, and personal development
