The Amherst Residential platform provides a comprehensive suiteof services to facilitate the ownership of single- family rental properties, including property management services, asset-level financing, and asset management services. With a deep understanding of and proprietary analytics on the single-family home and mortgage markets, Amherst's platform combines a unique combination of national scale with local market knowledge and execution.

The Investments team oversees the investment strategy and asset management for Amherst's $15bn real estate portfolio and is looking for underwriters who will work in a fast-paced, quantitatively driven environment and are comfortable managing and streamlining various high-impact projects and decisions across the portfolio. The underwriters in India are responsible for retail dispositions, underwriting, and ongoing asset management of a portfolio of single-family homes. This role sits at the Analyst level and serves as the initiating point of the disposition workflow, delivering underwriting outputs that feed into various downstream disposition workstreams.

Job Description (Primary Responsibilities)

Underwrite single-family assets using market comparables to determine accurate rent and valuation in support of disposition pricing, with due diligence and precision taking priority over volume
Own assigned regions and provide market-level feedback and key insights to the disposition strategy team
Develop a strong understanding of market-level dynamics and nuances, and translate them into underwriting decisions and regional insights
Support ad-hoc regional analysis and market research projects related to disposition strategy

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or CFA designation is a plus. Specialty focus in Real Estate or Finance preferred
2+ years of relevant experience in underwriting, brokerage, or other real estate-related disciplines. Prior real estate knowledge and experience are required; exposure to US real estate or single-family residential (SFR) is a strong plus
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; comfortable working with data tools more broadly
Top-ranked performer with a track record of success (academic, professional)
Strong verbal and written skills to communicate effectively with internal and external professionals
Demonstrates analytical rigor, critical thinking, and attention to detail with a consistent and reliable output
Self-starter with an adaptable mindset and the ability to work independently in a high-intensity environment
Strong time management skills with the ability to handle high underwriting volume while maintaining accuracy and due diligence as the primary standard
Desire to work on a highly collaborative, fast-paced team
