Job Summary
The
Yoga Instructor is responsible for designing and delivering engaging yoga and mindfulness sessions that promote physical fitness, emotional balance, and holistic well-being for students. The instructor works with students across various age groups and abilities, creating a calm, inclusive, and health-focused environment aligned with the school's ethos and international values.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and conduct age-appropriate yoga classes for students (and occasionally staff), focusing on flexibility, strength, posture, breathing techniques, and mindfulness.
Adapt yoga routines based on student needs, fitness levels, and age groups (early years, primary, middle, and high school).
Integrate relaxation, meditation, and breathing exercises to reduce stress and enhance focus.
- Curriculum & Program Development
Collaborate with the Physical Education and Well-being departments to integrate yoga into the school's health and wellness curriculum.
Support co-curricular and extracurricular yoga programs, including workshops, wellness days, and after-school clubs.
Introduce students to the philosophy and benefits of yoga in a way that is secular, inclusive, and age-appropriate.
Ensure a safe environment by teaching proper techniques and modifying poses as needed.
Observe students to assess progress and provide individual guidance where necessary.
Maintain a calm, supportive atmosphere that encourages self-awareness and personal growth.
- Events & Community Engagement
Participate in school events such as
International Yoga Day, sports days, wellness programs, or parent engagement activities.
Conduct yoga sessions for staff wellness or parent workshops if requested.
Qualifications & Requirements
Certification from a recognized yoga institute (e.g., RYT-200 or equivalent).
Minimum 2 years of experience teaching yoga, preferably in a school or educational setting.
Experience working with children and adolescents of different age groups.
Knowledge of child development, fitness, and safe yoga practices.
Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
First aid and CPR certification (preferred).
