Summary
HMH is seeking a
Workday HCM Functional Analyst to support and continuously improve our Workday Human Capital Management platform. In this role, you will partner with HR and IT to translate business needs into effective Workday configuration, reporting, and process design. The ideal candidate brings strong functional expertise in
Workday Core HCM, business process (BP) configuration, security fundamentals, and end-user supporthelping HMH operate safely, efficiently, and with integrity.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as a functional SME for Workday Core HCM (Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Time & Absence, Talent/Performance and Learning), supporting day-to-day operations and ongoing enhancements.
- Partner with HR and business stakeholders to gather requirements, perform fit/gap analysis, and recommend scalable solutions aligned with policy and compliance needs.
- Configure and maintain Workday Business Processes, including routing, approvals, notifications, conditions/rules, validations, and step security.
- Maintain data integrity and governance across worker data, organizations, positions/jobs, and related HCM configurations.
- Build and maintain Workday reports and dashboards, including calculated fields, custom reports, prompts, and data validation.
- Support Workday security administration in partnership with system owners, including domain and BP security policies, role-based access, and troubleshooting access issues.
- Manage tickets, investigate root causes, and provide timely resolution for Workday issues; document solutions and user guidance.
- Support releases and change management: impact assessment, regression testing, UAT coordination, deployment readiness, and post-release validation.
- Create and maintain functional documentation (process flows, configuration notes, test scripts) and contribute to knowledge management.
- Collaborate with technical teams on data loads and integrations (e.g., EIBs, inbound/outbound files), supporting testing and functional validation.
- Promote continuous improvement through standardization, automation, and best practices across HMH HR processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
- 3+ years of HRIS/HCM experience, including 2+ years of hands-on Workday HCM functional experience.
- Strong understanding of Workday Core HCM processes (Hire, Job Change, Termination, Worker Data Changes, Contract/Contingent Worker, etc.).
- Experience configuring Workday Business Process frameworks and troubleshooting BP issues.
- Experience with Workday Reporting (custom reports, calculated fields, prompts) and auditing/troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of Workday security concepts (domains, BP security, security groups/roles).
- Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into configuration and clearly communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
- Strong documentation skills and comfort supporting testing cycles (unit/UAT) and production support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Workday certification(s) or Workday Pro experience (HCM, Business Process, Reporting, Security).
- Experience supporting additional Workday modules: Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, Talent/Performance, Learning.
- Experience with integrations and data loads (EIBs; familiarity with Core Connectors/Studio a plus).
- Experience in a global or multi-entity HR environment and/or regulated/SOX-compliant change control.
- Familiarity with ticketing tools (FreshService) and structured SDLC/change management practices.
