Job Overview:

The Work Planner (E&I) is responsible for preparing, coordinating, and optimizing work packages for maintenance, shutdown, installation, and project activities. The role ensures that all work is properly planned with the required materials, manpower, tools, and documentation before execution.

The Work Planner supports project and maintenance teams by developing detailed job plans, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, controlling costs, and facilitating efficient resource utilization in petrochemical and industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Work Planning & Preparation

  • Prepare detailed work packages, job plans, procedures, and permit requirements.
  • Conduct site visits to verify scope, working conditions, and resource needs.
  • Ensure availability of materials, tools, equipment, and documentation prior to job execution.
  • Coordinate with project, maintenance, and field teams for effective planning.

Technical & Commercial Support

  • Prepare cost estimates using approved costing methods.
  • Assist in preparation of material take-offs, manpower planning, and cost calculations.
  • Evaluate supplier quotations and technical proposals when required.
  • Prepare cost summaries and proforma budgets for project activities.

Cost Control & Reporting

  • Monitor project budgets and support cost control processes.
  • Maintain records of variation orders (extra or reduced work).
  • Track work progress and assist in project financial reporting.
  • Compare actual costs with baseline budgets.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all planning activities comply with HSE regulations and site safety requirements.
  • Assist in preparation of permits and safety documentation.
  • Follow client standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve planning efficiency and internal processes.
  • Monitor market developments related to materials, tools, and work methods.
  • Support implementation of best practices for maintenance and project planning.

Technical Competencies, Software knowledge and other requirements:

Strong knowledge of Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance and installation activities.

Experience in shutdown and maintenance planning in industrial plants.

Ability to prepare work packages, cost estimates, and technical documentation.

Good communication and coordination skills.

Strong understanding of HSE standards and procedures.
