About the role
We're looking for a senior front-end engineer who lives and breathes WordPress/WooCommerce theming. You'll build pixel-perfect, high-performance themes, customize WooCommerce storefronts, and ship delightful UI with clean, scalable code. Shopify theme (Liquid) experience is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
- Theme development (WordPress/WooCommerce): Build custom themes/child themes, template overrides, hooks/filters, and block-first (Gutenberg/FSE) experiences.
- UI implementation: Convert Figma/Sketch designs into responsive, accessible, cross-browser UI with modern CSS (SCSS/Tailwind) and JS (ES6+).
- WooCommerce front-end: Customize PDP/PLP, cart/checkout, mini-cart, account pages; implement promos, filters, variations, and micro-interactions.
- Performance & SEO: Optimize Core Web Vitals (LCP/CLS/INP), lazy-loading, image/CDN strategy, critical CSS, schema/meta, and Lighthouse tuning.
- Quality & delivery: Maintain component libraries/design systems, write maintainable code, review PRs, and uphold coding standards.
- Tooling & workflow: Own build tooling (Vite/Webpack, npm), Git branching, environments (dev/stage/prod), and release hygiene.
- Collaboration: Partner with designers, back-end devs, and PMs; document patterns and mentor mid/junior engineers.
Must-have qualifications
- 5+ years professional front-end/theming experience, with a strong portfolio of WordPress/WooCommerce sites.
- Deep WordPress theme skills: template hierarchy, functions.php, hooks/filters, customizers, ACF/Block development, Gutenberg/FSE.
- Strong WooCommerce theming: template overrides, actions, checkout/cart UI customization.
- Proficient in HTML5, CSS3 (SCSS/Tailwind), JavaScript (ES6+), responsive layouts, accessibility (WCAG), and cross-browser QA.
- Solid performance optimization and SEO implementation for ecommerce.
- Comfortable with Git, code reviews, and working from design specs.
- Practical PHP for theming (you can read/write template logic, small utilities, or lightweight plugins when needed).

- Shopify theming (Liquid): Dawn/Online Store 2.0, Sections, Theme App Extensions, metafields, Shopify CLI; storefront performance & SEO.
- Headless/front-end frameworks exposure (e.g., Next.js) or WPGraphQL/REST for component data.
- Analytics/marketing tech: GA4, GTM, pixels, A/B testing.
