WordPress Web Designer & Technical Developer (Part-Time Contractor)

Monthly Retainer: $800 $1,200 USD (based on experience and scope)

About the Role
We are a U.S.-based immigration law firm building a high-performance, conversion-focused website.
This role is responsible for executing technical improvements, landing page builds, and performance optimization under the direction of our SEO & Marketing Operations Lead.
This is not a passive maintenance role. It requires disciplined implementation and proactive technical oversight.
Scope of Work (Monthly Deliverables)1. Landing Page Development
- Build 12 high-converting practice area or geo landing pages per month
- Mobile-first design
- Clear CTA structure
- Delivery within 5 business days of finalized content
2. Technical SEO Implementation
(In coordination with SEO Lead)
- Implement structured data (LegalService, FAQPage, Article, BreadcrumbList)
- Maintain clean semantic HTML structure
- Implement internal linking updates as directed
- Manage canonical tags and XML sitemap
- Support hreflang for multilingual pages
- Execute technical fixes identified in audits
3. Performance Optimization
- Maintain 85+ PageSpeed (mobile prioritized)
- Optimize images, scripts, and plugins
- Conduct monthly performance checks
- Reduce unnecessary plugin bloat
4. Security & Maintenance
- WordPress core updates
- Plugin updates (approved only)
- Backup monitoring
- Security hardening
- 24-hour response time for critical technical issues
5. Basic Conversion Optimization (Limited Scope)
- Implement CTA, form, and layout adjustments when requested
- Install and maintain GA4, Tag Manager, and tracking scripts
- Support A/B testing when required
Major redesigns or full rebuilds are outside scope and billed separately.
Performance Standards
- Technical SEO fixes implemented within 35 business days
- Landing pages delivered within agreed timeline
- 99%+ uptime
- No unauthorized plugins installed
- All technical changes documented and logged
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years WordPress development experience
- Strong HTML/CSS and working knowledge of PHP
- Experience with Elementor / Gutenberg / Divi
- Demonstrated PageSpeed optimization experience
- Hands-on structured data implementation
- Understanding of SEO best practices
- Portfolio showing both design and technical execution
