Job Title: Windows Installer / Setup Engineer (WiX 3.14 & Migration Expertise)
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced
Windows Installer Engineer with strong expertise in creating and managing installation packages. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with
WiX Toolset 3.14, including configuration of silent installations for .NET Framework applications.
In addition to supporting our existing WiX-based setup processes, the role will involve working on a
migration project to transition from WiX installers to a modern installation solution, ensuring that all current components and deployment behaviors remain unaffected.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance existing installer solutions built with WiX 3.14.
- Configure and support silent installation features for .NET Framework applications.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure installation packages meet functional and deployment requirements.
- Lead or assist in the migration from WiX 3.14 to a new installer technology, ensuring no disruption to existing installation processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation-related issues across environments.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of Windows Installer (MSI) technology.
- Proven experience with WiX Toolset 3.14 setup authoring.
- Familiarity with silent/automated installation processes.
- Experience deploying and configuring .NET Framework applications via installers.
- Ability to analyze and migrate installation logic to modern installer platforms (e.g., WiX 4, InstallShield, Advanced Installer, MSIX, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Nice To Have
- Knowledge of modern deployment technologies (MSIX, ClickOnce, Intune, etc.).
- Prior experience supporting enterprise-scale installation and deployment processes.
